Houdini users have been asking for native 3D object tracking for over a decade.
And it's finally here.
KeenTools, the team behind GeoTracker for Nuke, Blender, and AE, shipped a Houdini beta this week. And I was able to get my hands on it to test!🧵
So something I tell my students is intentional practice with constraints.
I can understand the pushback but I truly believe Henning is right with context.
Studies show that human productivity is only about 3 hours out of the day… 🧵
I really don't know why @henningsanden is getting so much flak for this. This is the cold hard and gigantic pill that you have to swallow. If you don't don't bleed the craft, you honestly don't have the room to have the excuses at the end.
I've seen so many squander the opportunity because they assume the craft is taught in a classroom, a YouTube tutorial, or just organically. And that is the farthest thing from truth.

I still love all of you.
They are nose down in their phone scrolling.
Doom scrolling.
But I don’t want to discount the students and future artists that are trying. Because you can see it. The level and gap of craftsmanship is incredibly large. I’m talking stick figures to the Sistine chapel large.
I care about both students. My heart breaks for one them.
And before someone says that’s not everyone. You are right. But the middle pack, the student who tries hard but might not have the acumen. They are disappearing. They are becoming fewer, and fewer.
Just what I am seeing. And taking note of.
Scope smaller. Finish HARDER.
I’ve reviewed hundreds of 3D portfolios, and the amount of unfinished graybox WIP posts I’ve seen disturbs me. That is the quickest way to lose a job application.
I say this as someone who made the exact same mistake for YEARS. #gamedev#3Dart 💙⚔️
For 3D students: Most I’ve met simply aren’t doing the hours needed to get into the industry. Studying only 10:00-16:00 every day won’t cut it - particularly since only a portion of the day is spent on actual work.
I am interested in how deer received the evolutionary advantage of being impossible to recreate convincingly in CGI. We have photorealistic digital humans now, but not deer. Many great filmmakers have tried. All have failed. A mystery of nature I would like to see investigated.

Truth to this in VFX. You are up against very passionate people who live and breathe their craft. If you don't put in the hours you won't be able to get to the level necessary to break in.
Volume retiming can be a big pain. There are quite a few ways but all have their own compromises.
I think this workflows that i made fixes 90% of them :D
Sorry for the bad explosions, was just using them to test the system.
it works with fire and temperature as well all flicker free. let me know if you want to see how it's made and i can record a mini workshop.
Comment SLOWMO so i can see how many people would be interested. 🔥
Cheers UB.
Not a whole lot to update. But here is a quick render, textures are a bit blah, but I needed something working in a pinch. Yep another volcano. Stand By.
