Thank you Senator Lavon Bracy Davis for your #VisitAPrison at Polk CI. We believe by seeing issues first hand @FL_Corrections you can better understand conditions and improve our justice system. You don’t know if you don’t go! @FAMMFoundation

“In September, a federal Judge certified a class action allowing more than 1,500 inmates to collectively challenge prison heat conditions they say increase the risk of illness and death. @FL_Corrections Secretary Ricky Dixon previously testified that roughly 75% of the state’s prison housing units are not air-conditioned.” floridapolitics.com/archives…

“The Senate did not include plans for a new prison that were budgeted by House appropriators. A Senate criminal justice budget proposal includes $52 million for new correctional housing units. But that doesn’t cover the $127 million that a proposed House budget sets aside for a new 4,800-bed prison.” floridapolitics.com/archives…

Before you can effectively help your loved ones, they must use the internal grievance procedure. This varies depending on the subject. flrules.org/gateway/ChapterH…

If we want public safety, than we need to invest in those @FL_Corrections where the median grade level at admission is less than a 4th grader! Also 93 - 96% of reoffenders have less than a 12th grade education, 51% less than a 6th grade education. @JonMartinEsq @BernyJacques @JeffreyBrandes @dannyalvarezsr @IleanaGarciaUSA @Clay_Yarborough

You should watch the movie “Break the Cycle” currently free on the PANDO app.
Drugs belong OUT of prisons. But families go broke on phone calls. I’ve paid $6K in 2 yrs. Strong family ties cut recidivism. Time for truly affordable communication! #FamiliesMatter

We started off the year by introducing families to the “Inmate Orientation Handbook” which is distributed at the Reception Centers. A good starting point for questions. @IleanaGarciaUSA @dannyalvarezsr @websterbarnaby @Clay_Yarborough @JonMartinEsq @CarlosGSmith @FL_Corrections
