One of the highlights of the Texas GOP Convention was meeting Benjamin. This young man came up to me, introduced himself, and asked for my endorsement in his race for class president. I was proud to offer my wholehearted support and film a campaign endorsement video with my new friend. If his confidence and determination are any indication, I’d say his classmates have a strong candidate on the ballot. Best of luck, Benjamin. I’m rooting for you. And who knows? Maybe this future Republican leader will find himself on the Speaker’s dais one day. #txlege

FAKE NEWS! He was booed by some, but instead of backing down, Speaker @Burrows4TX continued talking to delegates about unity and winning in November.

Thank you for joining us, Mr. Speaker!
The time for Republican infighting is over. The only fight that matters is the one ahead. Today, I addressed the @TexasGOP Convention with delegates, grassroots leaders, party advocates, and conservatives from every corner of our state to deliver a message I believe is critical to the future of our movement. I knew I might receive a mixed reception, but the stakes are too high to stay silent. A bruising primary season is behind us. Now, our focus must be on November. Republicans have delivered historic victories for Texas, but our job is not finished. To keep Texas on the right track, we must come together, rally behind our nominees, and support the Republican ticket from top to bottom. We are one party with one mission. Together, let’s defend our conservative values and keep Texas red.

This did not happen. He continued to talk, got plenty of cheers and walked off the stage after finishing his speech to much applause. Were you there or just repeating what a lonely booer in the back said? #txlege

TEXAS GOP CONVENTION: Most Republican House members voted against Dustin Burrows for speaker. Almost every Democrat backed him. Today the GOP convention crowd agreed, booing him on the mainstage until he stopped talking.

Excellent speech. A lot was said that many people needed to hear. There has been far too much intentional misinformation circulating, and it’s time for that to stop. Thank you for respecting the delegates by being only the second Speaker of the House to ever address the convention—and the only Speaker to financially contribute to help make this convention possible. Respect is earned, and you have unquestionably earned it.

Congratulations to @DrindaRandall and @CoveyTX on earning the nomination to serve as Chair and Vice Chair of the Republican Party of Texas.   Texas Republicans are energized and ready for the work ahead. As we prepare for November and beyond, I look forward to working together to strengthen our party and advance the conservative principles Texans value.   I also want to thank Chairman @abrahamgeorge on his service to the Republican Party and the State of Texas. His dedication and leadership have helped advance the conservative movement across Texas, and I am grateful for his contributions.

Great start to Day 2 of the @TexasGOP Convention as I sponsored this morning’s Lonestar Liberty Grassroots Club Breakfast.   It was an honor to join the grassroots leaders from across Texas for fellowship and a renewed commitment to the principles that have made us America’s conservative leader. I also enjoyed the opportunity to introduce some of the most dedicated members serving in the Texas House today.   Texas Republicans have secured record conservative victories for our state, and these members and grassroots advocates are leading the fight to defend our values, protect our freedoms, and strengthen our communities. I’m proud to stand with these outstanding leaders as we continue securing a bright future for Texas.

This morning, I had the honor of swearing in @AaronKinseyTX for his second term as Chair of the Texas State Board of Education. A lifelong conservative, Aaron has provided strong leadership and a clear vision for strengthening education in Texas. As Chair of the SBOE, he has helped expand access to high-quality instructional materials and has led the board in updating the state standards that shape the education of millions of Texas students. Thank you, Aaron, for your continued service to our state. I look forward to continuing our work together to support students, empower parents, strengthen our classrooms, and help every Texas student succeed.

Great news for Texas education: More high school students met grade-level expectations this year across every subject area, with progress across all student groups.   Last session, the Texas Legislature invested in classrooms, backed teachers, empowered parents, and put the focus back on learning with reforms like banning cell phones during the school day. The latest results show those measures are paying off.   More students are not only meeting grade level, but mastering foundational subjects like algebra, biology, English, and U.S. history—including among economically disadvantaged students, special education students, and emergent bilingual students.   Thank you to all the students, parents, and educators whose hard work is driving this progress and opening doors for the next generation.   The Texas House and Senate aren’t done supporting our students. Next session, we’ll continue working with Governor Abbott to build on this momentum so that every student graduates prepared for the opportunities ahead.

Thank you @GovAbbottPress for pushing for needed accountability and reform. I look forward to working with you on this next session.
Governor Abbott directed the PUC and ERCOT to protect Texans from footing the bill for data centers. His plan requires data centers to cover their own infrastructure costs, lowers transmission costs for residents, and safeguards Texas communities and natural resources.

This morning, USDA confirmed two additional cases of New World Screwworm in Texas, including one in House District 31 in La Salle County, which brings the total number of confirmed cases in Texas to four. As we feared after the first case was confirmed, additional detections were likely only a matter of time. Just this past Friday, I was in Cotulla for a New World Screwworm informational session with hundreds of local producers in attendance. I can tell you firsthand that rural Texas is fully engaged and ready to do its part to help defeat this pest. As far back as January 2025, I have been ringing the alarm bell with fellow legislators and working with state agencies to prepare at the state level, strengthen coordination, push for the federal eradication program to move faster, and explore state-level alternatives in the event the federal response proved too slow. As Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture and Livestock, shortly after we hosted our first hearing on New World Screwworm, in August 2025 the federal government allocated $750 million to renovate Moore Air Base in Edinburg into a sterile fly production facility to help eradicate this pest from our border. That investment was an important first step, but confirmed cases in Texas make clear that speed is more important than ever. Under Governor @GregAbbott_TX and Speaker @Burrows4TX leadership, Texas has continued calling for acceleration in the federal eradication program. The recent expansion of the disaster declaration makes clear to the federal government that Texas stands ready to provide any and every resource needed to help move this response forward. Please continue monitoring livestock, pets, and wildlife for suspicious wounds or larvae, and immediately report any suspected case. Visit screwworm.gov for the latest information on the outbreak.

The @TexasTribune asked me for a comment about a House member calling for a hearing on the New World Screwworm, and here’s what I told them: I have been working with Governor Greg Abbott, Secretary Brooke Rollins, Commissioner Sid Miller, the House Agriculture & Livestock Committee, the House Culture, Recreation & Tourism Committee, the cattle industry, and wildlife groups to help make every tool available to address the New World Screwworm. The House has held hearings, made this an interim charge, and will hold more hearings as necessary to help. As election season approaches, I am glad to see more House members begin to recognize the importance of the cattle and beef industry to Texas.

Today, we remember the courage, sacrifice, and resolve of the Allied forces who stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. Their bravery changed the course of history and helped secure the freedoms we enjoy today. As we honor the Greatest Generation, may we never forget the immense price paid to defend liberty and defeat tyranny.
