DON’T SHARIA MY TEXAS—Many great platform planks and resolutions were voted on at the @TexasGOP State Convention. Among the most important of the resolutions was this one, which calls on our state legislature to enforce and expand laws that criminalize the practice of Sharia, which is incompatible with western civilization. As a Senate District 4 Jefferson County Delegate, I proudly voted in favor of this resolution because radical Islam has no place, no quarter, and no home in the great state of Texas!

The time for Republican infighting is over. The only fight that matters is the one ahead.
Today, I addressed the @TexasGOP Convention with delegates, grassroots leaders, party advocates, and conservatives from every corner of our state to deliver a message I believe is critical to the future of our movement.
I knew I might receive a mixed reception, but the stakes are too high to stay silent.
A bruising primary season is behind us. Now, our focus must be on November. Republicans have delivered historic victories for Texas, but our job is not finished. To keep Texas on the right track, we must come together, rally behind our nominees, and support the Republican ticket from top to bottom.
We are one party with one mission. Together, let’s defend our conservative values and keep Texas red.

Congratulations to my good friend, @CoveyTX , on winning the election to be our next @TexasGOP Vice Chairman. I urge my fellow Republicans in Jefferson County to put aside grievances from past primary elections that are long behind us, and to recognize this victory for what it is: a win for Southeast and East Texas. The message at this State Convention has been loud and clear: unity will drive us to victory in November! ✅

DEI IN THE TEXAS GOP?—Most people have no idea that our own @TexasGOP bylaws say if the Chair is a man, the Vice Chair has to be a woman—and vice versa. Chairman @abrahamgeorge and I agree: this silly and antiquated rule should be ELIMINATED!

MORMONS—ARE THEY CHRISTIANS? Utah Senator Mike Lee has started a firestorm on X, asking why a list of religious denominations put out by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth does not categorize Mormons as Christians.
As a Catholic, I know Church teaching is very clear on this subject: Mormon baptisms are not recognized by the Catholic Church as trinitarian, Christian baptisms.
I have never believed Mormons are Christians. This is not an indictment of whether they tend to be good people. To be sure, I was raised in Utah, I had countless Mormon friends growing up, and many of my relatives are of the Mormon faith. They are some of the kindest, most gracious, family-oriented, and value-driven people I know. They are also not Christians.
