A news brief appearing in the Indianapolis Daily Journal on July 8, 1865, describes the order given by Gen. Gordon Granger, upon taking command in Texas, which asserted that slavery was abolished in that place. His order was issued June 19, 1865.

I enjoyed the rededication ceremony for the Indiana State historical marker commemorating the Central Canal this morning. Thank you to local historian Ed Fujawa for leading the effort to bring this sign back to District 7!

Our fall newsletter detailed @IndyGoBus route changes in the neighborhood, including the 28 bus being rerouted down Boulevard Pl. it appears there was a change since that newsletter came out, and the 28 will remain on the Illinois routing.
