California lawmakers are considering a bill that could restrict peaceful protest near houses of worship. AB 2664 would create a 100-foot zone around entrances and exits, limiting when people can approach others to protest, educate, leaflet, or display signs. Everyone deserves to worship safely, and California already has laws prohibiting threats, harassment, violence, and obstruction. However, AB 2664 creates new criminal penalties that could put peaceful protesters and community advocates at risk for engaging in lawful First Amendment activity in public spaces. This matters because houses of worship do not only host religious services. They may also host political speakers, advocacy events, community forums, rallies, and commercial events—including real estate events tied to settlement activity in the occupied West Bank. Community members must retain the right to peacefully protest and express disagreement. Tell your legislators: Vote NO on AB 2664. Take action: link in bio or visit bit.ly/oppose-ab-2664

The Israeli government’s relentless expansion of illegal settlements is part of a broader campaign to ethnically-cleanse Palestinians, seize their land, and make permanent Israel’s illegal occupation of the West Bank.

Tell congress to reject Israel first military and intelligence integration bills: bit.ly/224-ndaa Israel is not a normal security partner. It is a government currently facing credible allegations of genocide, apartheid, war crimes, crimes against humanity, ethnic cleansing, collective punishment, torture, starvation policies, and the unlawful targeting of civilians. As Gaza lies in ruins and Palestinians continue to face displacement, siege, military occupation, and systematic deprivation, Congress should be working to end American complicity, not expanding it.

The Somali soccer referee Omar Artan returned home to a hero's welcome after being denied entry to the United States, where he was set to officiate games during the FIFA World Cup. Jubilant crowds in Mogadishu welcomed him at the airport, and he was a guest of honor at a local game. The 34-year-old was named Africa's referee of the year in 2025 and would have been the first Somali to officiate at a World Cup.

Amnesty International’s findings confirm what Palestinians, human rights organizations, and international observers have documented for years: the forced displacement of Palestinians in the illegally-occupied West Bank is not the result of isolated acts by extremist settlers, but part of a broader state-backed effort to seize Palestinian land and permanently alter the demographic reality of the territory. Congress can no longer claim ignorance while American taxpayer dollars continue to support a government carrying out genocide, ethnic cleansing, apartheid, and other grave violations of international law. The United States must end military support that enables these abuses, enforce existing laws prohibiting assistance to human rights violators, and demand accountability for those responsible.
Entire Palestinian communities across Area C of the occupied West Bank are being erased from lands they have lived on for generations by Israel's accelerating policy of ethnic cleansing and annexation. Sign the petition and call on world leaders to halt Israel's ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank now and end its unlawful occupation: amn.st/6010B8Fk6Y #StopIsraelsEthnicCleansing

Tuesday’s House Judiciary Committee hearing on @SPLCenter is the latest attempt by the Trump administration to silence their critics and whitewash extremism. It’s the next chapter in a broader pattern of government corruption, from creating slush funds for political allies to pardoning January 6th attackers, and has nothing to do with accountability.

We are calling on all members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee to reject an amendment offered by Rep. Michael Lawler during today’s markup of H.R. 9087 that would revive the controversial International Governmental Organizations (IGO) Anti-Boycott Act, legislation that was pulled from consideration last year following widespread public opposition. Lawler’s proposed amendment would expand the Anti-Boycott Act of 2018 to criminalize compliance with or support for boycotts promoted by international governmental organizations such as the United Nations. Americans, including individuals, businesses, nonprofits, and advocacy organizations, could face severe civil penalties and criminal liability for participating in or supporting internationally-backed boycott campaigns aimed at holding foreign governments accountable for violations of international law and human rights. Muhammad Ali was a devout Muslim. Suggesting otherwise distorts both his personal faith journey and the historical record. Like many other African-Americans who originally belonged to the Nation of Islam, Muhammad Ali transitioned to Sunni Islam under the leadership of Imam W.D. Muhammad in the 1970s and lived the rest of his life contributing to causes of justice and peace, motivated by his faith. Any exhibit honoring his life should accurately reflect his unwavering commitment to Islam. We call on the Freedom 250 Mobile Museum to correct the record.

We welcome this strong, principled letter from 119 Members of Congress. American Muslims serve this nation in every capacity and are entitled to the same constitutional protections as every other community. We thank the Members of Congress who stood up today against discrimination and against legislation that stigmatizes Muslims for practicing their faith. The so‑called ‘Sharia‑Free America Caucus’ is not a serious policy effort. It is an anti‑Muslim hate group and election‑year distraction masquerading as a congressional caucus. Its proposals are rooted in Islamophobic conspiracy theories, not any legitimate legislative need. Congress is right to reject attempts to single out American Muslims and undermine our Constitution. In championing this letter U.S. Representatives @RepJamesClyburn, @RepAndreCarson, @rosadelauro, @RepHankJohnson, @RepRoKhanna, @RepJerryNadler, and U.S. Senator @ChrisVanHollen – and the 113 other Members of Congress who joined them – have demonstrated principled leadership making it clear message that this anti‑Muslim hate caucus has no place in Congress.
Today, I joined @ChrisVanHollen, @RepAndreCarson, @RosaDeLauro, @RepHankJohnson, @RepRoKhanna, and @RepJerryNadler in leading 119 Democrats in a letter condemning the Anti-Muslim Sharia Free Caucus. Religious discrimination has no place anywhere, and in Congress, there ought to be no place for anti-Muslim legislation that discriminates against the faith tradition of American Muslims. As Democrats from many different faiths, we know that our faith calls on us to uphold the dignity and humanity for all. No one should be targeted or live in fear for practicing their faith.

Even before President Trump took office, major colleges and universities were punishing student activists opposed to the Gaza genocide with tactics unseen since the crackdowns on student protests against segregation and the Vietnam war. These schools undermine their own commitment to free speech and open inquiry by denying anti-genocide students and staff the same principles they claim to uphold. This is unacceptable. We urge all students, faculty, and staff who still face restrictions on their right to free speech to report their campus to us. Islamophobia.org/reportcampu…

We welcome and firmly stand behind Senator @ChrisVanHollen’s urgent demand for the immediate release of Sama Safi. It is utterly unacceptable that an American citizen can be dragged from her home in the dead of night and denied contact with both her family and her own government. For too long, the United States has tolerated the systematic abuse, unlawful detention, and even killing of its own citizens by the Israeli military without holding foreign authorities accountable. The State Department must match its stated priority of protecting Americans abroad with immediate, decisive action to bring Sama Safi home safely.
Yesterday, the IDF seized 4 students from their homes in the West Bank, including 20-year-old American, Sama Safi. The Israeli govt didn’t tell her family or the U.S. Embassy where or why she was being taken & is holding her without charges. America must secure her release NOW.

This ruling is a victory for the rule of law, due process, and the principle that people should not be denied legal protections based on their nationality or religion. Policies that target immigrants and asylum seekers from predominantly Muslim, African, Middle Eastern, and other marginalized communities undermine America’s commitment to justice and equal treatment under the law. We welcome the court’s decision and urge the administration to immediately comply with the ruling, restore normal processing of all affected applications, and abandon discriminatory immigration policies that have caused unnecessary suffering for thousands of families. apnews.com/article/trump-imm…
