The cost of heating a home to a healthy temperature is out of reach for many families. Some householders are resorting to only heating one room. Support @nea_ukcharity's #FuelPovertyAwarenessDay.

We hear this a lot from women we speak to in focus group sessions. The rising cost of food has severely impacted on their household budgets and causes them to struggle to afford to healthy food and to skip meals to try and ensure their children/families are fed ⬇️
🚨 Nearly six million adults are struggling to afford healthy food according to our latest #FoodInsecurity Tracker. One in seven households with children are affected meaning they are cutting back on meals or skipping food for a day. Read more: ➡️ bit.ly/4ozVF5j #CostOfLivingCrisis #PoliticsLive @NuffieldFound

Ofgem energy price cap increasing.⚡️ Although CAP welcomes the expansion of the Warm Homes Discount, we’re concerned rising energy bills will see more of the poorest struggling to afford their heating this winter. 😢 👀 Response capuk.org/energycap  @ofgem

Fuel poverty is a year-round crisis that doesn’t end with the winter. Badly insulated small flats and overcrowded homes can overheat quickly. People need to run fans, keep fridges with medicines, and use extra water. Health risks spike with inside temperatures over 25C. #Summer

There is no Warm Home Discount scheme in NI. Households remain in crisis over energy bills. There is urgent need for greater energy bill support, including: • Introduction of the Warm Home Discount scheme. • Introduction of an energy social tariff for those in the greatest need.
Every billpayer on means-tested benefits will now be eligible for the Warm Home Discount. Eligible households must be named on their electricity bill by Sunday 24 August to receive the £150 discount automatically.
