Combatting drug smuggling: #CBSA officers in the #GTA intercepted a package containing over 6 kg of ketamine. Investigators worked with @OPP_ER who charged two individuals in #Renfrew. Read more below.
The OPP has arrested two people in Renfrew following a Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) seizure of ketamine. CBSA border services officers detected a substance, which tested positive for ketamine, while examining a shipment at the International Mail Processing Centre in the Greater Toronto Area. They contacted the OPP and provided information regarding the package which contained over six kilograms of the powerful dissociative anesthetic used legally in both human and veterinary medicine. On Tuesday, February 24th, the OPP East Region Community Street Crime Unit and CBSA executed a search warrant at a residence on Maloney Road. Two people were arrested without incident and officers seized the suspected ketamine, as well as approximately six grams of suspected cocaine and a quantity of suspected methamphetamine. They also seized approximately $1300 in cash, a collapsible baton and items typically associated with drug trafficking. Two people from Renfrew have each been charged with: •Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – three counts •Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 •Unauthorized possession of a weapon One is also charged with importing a Schedule 1 substance. If you have information about suspicious cross-border activity, please contact the CBSA Border Watch Line at 1-888-502-9060. @CanBorder ^bd
