With courage, tenacity and an audacious spirit, he widened our capacity for imagining true unity and deepened our commitment to justice for all. This is open to 9th thru 12th grade students who attend school in Denton County. Only 40 seats are available!

Iced wheels flinched & froze.

Dark fury of flowers,

If for us she arose,
Somewhere, in the pitched deep of our grief,
Crouches our power,
The howl where we begin,
Straining upon the edge of the crooked crater
Of the worst of what we’ve been.

& all the greater,
When the labour
& bitter anger of our neighbors

& better angels of our nature.

Tonight, we’ve witnessed the power of courageous leadership — not in theory, but in a living legacy. Vernell, Lucille, Jo, & Venita didn’t just open doors; they held them open for others to walk through. They led with vision, resilience, and grace, often in the face of silence.
