ALT Archive dive: Queer history as a site of community connection. This presentation and discussion explores how an archive can be a playful place for queer people to connect. After a presentation and discussion, participants will take part in a hands-on exploration of an Edmonton lesbian archive. Archive Dive’s goals are to promote social connections especially for lesbian, queer, and trans people, to counter erasure and raise awareness of lesbian and queer history, and to build opportunities for intergenerational and trans-inclusive dialogue. Materials from the Hamilton 2SLGBTQ Community Archive will also be on display. About the Presenter: Kristy Harcourt (she/her) is a lesbian and queer-identified social worker who has been involved in Alberta 2SLGBTQ community building for more than 30 years. She works as a therapist, community social worker, and university educator in Social Work and Women and Gender Studies.

ALT The Centre for Community-Engaged Narrative Arts (CCENA) is now accepting applications for our inaugural student residency program for 2025-26. CCENA fosters social transformation by creating opportunities for arts-based community listening, remembering, and story-making. By working with artists, scholars, community members, and local groups and organizations, CCENA amplifies marginalized voices, preserves local stories, and promotes public engagement. We aim to strengthen and build community connections and bridge gaps between the university and local communities. We support initiatives that use narrative arts to drive social change, advocate for underrepresented groups, and generate broader conversations on justice, belonging, and collective memory. ALT Remembering Air India Flight 182 A 40th Anniversary Conference May 24-25, 2025 McMaster University The date June 23, 2025, marks the 40th anniversary of the Air India Flight 182 bombing. Although this event has been described as a Canadian tragedy that resulted in the mass murder of 331 people, it remains little known and seldom remembered in our national consciousness. In memory of those lost and to honour the ongoing grief and activism of those left to mourn and seek wider recognition of this loss, please join us for Remembering Air India Flight 182: A 40th Anniversary Conference. This conference aims to educate the wider public on the Air India Flight 182 tragedy and its aftermath; centre the voices and knowledge of Air India family members and advocacy organizations; and foster knowledge exchange. The conference will feature special artistic responses to the bombing, presentations by family members, artists, and scholars, and the launch of the Air India Flight 182 Archive.
