Thank you @NIHRresearch for championing research and supporting the SELF-BREATHE trial, which I’m proud to lead as Chief Investigator.
Thank you, Ivy—your story is why I love doing research. Let’s keep encouraging everyone to #BePartOfResearch 💙
@KingsCollegeNHS@CSI_KCL
At 80 years old, Ivy took part in the SELF-BREATHE study, testing a digital app to help people manage chronic breathlessness.
The app helped Ivy recognise the early signs of breathlessness and use practical techniques to manage her symptoms at home.
“I’m a strong advocate,” she says. “Don’t be frightened to take part.” 🙌
Whatever your age, ethnicity, gender or background - you can make a huge difference to the health and care of tomorrow.

ALT An elderly woman with gray hair and large glasses is seated in an armchair, holding an open book. She wears a bright pink top. To the left is a quote: “I've always believed in research. We wouldn’t have any medicine without it.” At the top left, the NIHR "Be Part of Research" logo is visible, and the NHS logo is at the top right. The background is light blue with colorful abstract shapes.
Breathlessness limits independence and social engagement, with psychological and behavioural responses compounding activity restriction. A multi-agency approach is needed to address modifiable factors and reduce the overall burden of breathlessness. bit.ly/3XlmwXa

Right now, thousands of people are struggling to breathe while they wait for a diagnosis. This delay can be catastrophic. We’re on a mission to get fast, accurate diagnoses for people with lung conditions. #DiagnosisDelay
