We have finally recovered from the @CDPConnect Research Sharing Event @britishmuseum on Thursday 22 September. It was so great to see so many CDP students and to hear about their diverse and fascinating research projects. Here are some highlights.

Grateful to have an honourable mention in the 2024 Sally Mitchell Dissertation Prize ✨ Thanks to @RS4VP for supporting this award and recognising the scholarship of PhD graduates!
A real joy to attend the @CDPConnect heritage day @southeastNT The Vyne yesterday. Staff generously shared their experience of working in varied curatorial and conservation roles & we got to see so much of this amazing site. One of several ‘pinch me’ moments recently! #phdlife
Co-organised my last @CDPConnect York work-in-progress event yesterday 😭 Really glad we managed to get the tour of Clifford’s Tower booked in as part of it!
ALT Looking up 50 stone steps to the stone tower at the top of it.
ALT Looking out over the city of York with red topped roofs and a church spire in the middle. The clouds are grey and low hanging.
ALT Inside Clifford’s Tower. The walls are stone but the interesting thing is looking up at the new wooden ceiling with a hole in the middle and the metal staircases and walkways.
ALT A curved section of the interior of the tower. There are windows near the top and a larger alcove on the lower section.
📢 Applications are open until 23 May for a fully-funded @ahrcpress@CDPConnect PhD studentship with ECA & @V_and_A.

Had a really lovely introduction to @Kew_LAA yesterday - getting to learn about their collections; see some documents; and a chance to have a look at their newest display “Leafy Legacies”!
ALT Old map showing Kew Gardens. The bottom is mainly text telling you which numbers on the map mean which place. In the top right corner there are two small drawings of buildings that used to be on the site.
ALT White table with two archival documents open on it. Both have beautiful cursive handwriting on display on the pages.
ALT Looking through a window at a small display of books and archival documents. In the background are rows and rows of old looking books.
ALT Looking through another section of a window at another section of the display. Here we see archival documents alongside photographs. Again there are rows and rows of older looking books in the background.
It's not all about archives! Buildings and objects @ufm_cultra will also be examined as part of our CDP studentship with @LeicsMusStud, funded by @ahrcpress. For further details, please visit: le.ac.uk/rcmg/current-news. Deadline 20th May 2024! ⏰
ALT Thatched white house with two windows either side of a door. Window frames and door painted green.
ALT Brown dresser with cream edging. Blue and white patterned plates on top shelf. Mugs and bowls on shelves below.
ALT White Staffordshire dog figurine with yellow eyes and a brown nose.
ALT Interior of a store. Shelves filled with glazed crocks and bowls.
