ALT A public health poster from the UK Health Security Agency about meningitis and septicaemia. The design features bold green and black text over a brick wall background with photos of young people sitting outdoors. It explains that meningitis is inflammation of the brain and spinal cord lining, and septicaemia is blood poisoning caused by bacteria.
The poster lists early symptoms such as fever, vomiting, muscle pain, and headaches, noting they can resemble flu but worsen quickly. It highlights key meningitis symptoms including severe headache, stiff neck, sensitivity to light, confusion, seizures, and loss of consciousness.
It also lists septicaemia symptoms such as fever with shivering, limb pain, cold hands and feet, pale or blotchy skin, rapid breathing, stomach cramps, and a rash that does not fade under pressure.
A warning at the bottom urges people to seek urgent medical help if symptoms worsen, emphasizing that early treatment can be life-saving.

We know it’s hard to stay away, but it really matters. If you or someone in your household is unwell, please don’t visit someone in a hospital or care home.
Flu and stomach bugs can spread fast. A phone call is the safest way to stay in touch.
Remember to open a window when you’re got family or friends round to boost ventilation and make it harder for germs to linger and spread between people.
