Today should have been a happy day. I finally got my PhD from @MIT, with my 5-year-old twins, my 2-year-old and my parents (children of Holocaust survivors) traveling halfway around the world just to be there. Instead, MIT’s student commencement speaker decided it was appropriate to use the moment for hate-filled rhetoric against Israelis and Jews. And it wasn’t just one person; too many in the crowd erupted with cheers and anger. My kids might not have understood every word, but they felt the fear and hostility, and kept asking questions from that point on. It was distressing for them, upsetting for us, and deeply distasteful for everyone else who came to celebrate. How could @MIT let this happen and ruin a special day for hundreds of Jewish graduates and thousands of their family members? This is even more heartbreaking considering that just last week, a beautiful Jewish American couple was murdered in DC. Shame on MIT for allowing hate and division to overshadow a day meant for celebration and unity.

We were tagged and messaged so many times until we finally gave in!! 100 plus dogs....pigs.....cats....guinea pigs...sugar gliders....chickens....ducks....all rescued and SAFE today!! HUGE HUGE THANKS to MONTGOMERY COUNTY SHERIFF DEPT AND MONTGOMERY COUNTY PROSECUTOR for showing up, obtaining warrants and BEING PRESENT ON THAT PROPERTY UNTIL WELL AFTER DARK LAST NITE!! they also provided us Subway for lunch AND cooked us burgers and hotdogs on a grill for dinner!!! Your Pope County Sheriff dept and prosecutors would do well to take some lessons from Montgomery County. What an awesome bunch of people they were!! A prosecutor in jeans, Tshirt and Muck boots!?? What!?? Kudos to her! Also a HUGE THANKS TO Paws In Glenwood Rescue and Cuddle Babies for taking lots of dogs!! Thanks to Artemis Project, Hanks and Jak’s second chance for all their help!! It was a very long day that started at 4:30 yesterday morning and ended at midnight last night. my group made me proud as always!! They jumped into the mess hearts first, even though 2 of us had just barely made it back from transport!! Jessica Bearnson worked her butt off out there wrangling dogs, most of whom had had very little human contact. They were terrified and biting. Dogs living in some of the worst conditions we have ever seen, and we have seen a LOT. But the NovaStar team came out strong and showed out!! I am super proud of my Team!! We will post more as we can. Some of these dogs and puppies are very sick. Hooks. Coccidia, giardia we hope, but some do not look good at all. We took in 30 plus dogs from this mess.
