📢Publication Alert📢
"Fibre reinforced PET composite manufacturing via Solid State Polymerisation" by @OVetterli, Georgios Pappas, James Town, Daniel Lester, @PaoloErmanni
A novel solvent-free manufacturing route for PET-GF prepregs is presented. This method enables handling a #thermoplastic like a #thermoset, with impregnation at few Pa*s. Thanks to the in-situ SSP, the material properties are increased up to the highest commercial PET grade.
The title of the talk was "Unlocking the Potential of (In)stabilities: From Mechanics to a Reconfigurable Space Boom". Developing a predictive understanding of instabilities is necessary for effectively harnessing slender structures within engineering systems.
The talk provided insights for rationalizing the geometric nonlinearities emerging in post-buckling regimes, in addition to the design of reconfigurable boom intended for a debris collection satellite
📢 Seminar Alert! Join us for Prof. Marino Quaresimin's seminar on Sep 22, 2023, 11:00 AM, LEE E 126.
🎙 Seminar: "Integrated Design and Monitoring of Composite Structures Under In-Service Fatigue Loadings"
Sharing some captivating moments from last Friday's seminar with Dr. Benjamin King Sutton Woods from the University of Bristol, where he presented his research on "Ultra-Efficient WrapToR Composite Truss Structures: Progress to Date" to our lab.
Yesterday, the 10th #Swiss#SAMPE Technical #Conference took place at #ETH Zurich, in cooperation with the Swiss SAMPE Chapter, Laboratory of Composite Materials and Adaptive Structures, and Composites United Schweiz.
The one-day conference was dedicated to exploring the potential of innovative and #sustainable materials for the development of #lightweight#composite parts.
The event featured insightful presentations on sustainable and novel fiber-composite methodologies, culminating in a guided #tour of the CMASLab, providing attendees with a firsthand experience of cutting-edge research at CMASLab.
Congratulations Michael Kölbl on the successful defense of your #doctoral#thesis, titled "Highly Anisotropic Metastructures For Shape Adaptable Aerodynamic Surfaces".
We wish you all the best and good #success in the future.
