1/3-Check out the CORRE group's most recent publication: "A Systematic Review of Randomized Controlled Trial Characteristics for Interventions to Improve Upper Extremity Motor Recovery Post Stroke". Saikaley et al. Topics in Stroke Rehabilitation, 2022 tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1…
2/3-Saikaley et al. performed a systematic review of the evidence base for upper extremity motor rehabilitation interventions post stroke. We found a remarkable 1,307 RCTs published in this area up to April 1, 2021. Amazingly, 75% have been published in the last decade! WOW!
3/3-Median sample size for the RCTs is 30, the mean PEDro score is 6.12, and only 19% of RCTs are multisite. Key methodological measures of quality remain low, such as blind assessors (59%), intention to treat (42%), and concealed allocation (37%). Still lots of room to improve!
The ebrsr.com was recently featured in the “Noggins and Neurons Podcast” hosted by Peter Levine and Debra Battistella. Dr. Teasell spoke about the history of the EBRSR and adjunct therapies in stroke recovery. Their podcast can be found at bit.ly/3Dh1T2h.
