Thread 🧵
Over the past few weeks, I monitored misinformation on Instagram and found a troubling pattern.
Instagram is increasingly becoming a hub for viral fake news. Many posts featuring sensational quotes from politicians and public figures are either edited, fabricated, or taken completely out of context.
Several accounts regularly create fake quote cards and misleading graphics designed to look like genuine news content. These posts often gain thousands of likes, shares, and comments before anyone verifies them.
The problem doesn't stop there. Many social media influencers create reaction videos based on these fake claims, further amplifying misinformation to larger audiences. 1/
