Under Prof Allen, CFAR was a consecutively funded NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence, uniting clinicians, scientists and families to deliver a new understanding of food allergy and informing intnl infant feeding guidelines.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Professor Katrina (‘Katie’) Jane Allen – a leading paediatric allergist whose research reshaped the understanding, prevention and treatment of childhood food allergy.

🧒🥚🥛New hope for kids with egg & milk #allergies!
A pilot study tested oral immunotherapy & probiotics in 40 kids (5-17 yrs).
✅ 55% (egg) & 50% (milk) achieved remission ⚠️ Side effects common, but QoL improved.
