At approximately 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, Engine 3 was responding to a medical call when crews reported they had been involved in a collision with a bus at the intersection of Tejon Street and Bijou Street in downtown Colorado Springs. Four Colorado Springs firefighters were aboard Engine 3 and were transported to local hospitals with injuries. Seven people, including the driver, were on the bus, and five bus occupants were transported to local hospitals for evaluation and treatment of injuries. Additional CSFD units responded to the scene to provide patient care, assist with the extrication of the bus driver, and support our firefighters. In total, 21 CSFD personnel responded. Engine 3 sustained significant damage and is considered a total loss. Our firefighters respond to emergencies every day knowing there are risks associated with serving this community. Today, our focus is on our injured firefighters and everyone else affected by this incident. We are grateful for the immediate response of our crews, our public safety partners, and the medical teams caring for those involved. The Colorado Springs Police Department Major Crash Team is investigating the collision and will provide all crash-related information. Today at 4:15pm Engine 17 was dispatched to a car fire in the area of Saddle Ridge Dr and Tutt Blvd. DFR (Drone as a First Responder) arrived and alerted E17 they had a fully involved engine compartment fire. E17 arrive shortly after and reported the fire had spread to a fence. Firefighters got water on the fire quickly and extinguished the fence and car within 2 minutes of arrival. No injuries were reported. Great work by E17!

Those calls compete with crashes, medical emergencies, and other critical calls where lives may be at stake. Some people argue that fireworks laws are "un-American." We disagree. What is truly un-American is knowingly breaking the law, putting your neighbors at risk, and creating unnecessary hazards for our community. Illegal fireworks can start wildfires, damage property, traumatize veterans and pets, and pull first responders away from emergencies. If you want to celebrate, attend one of the many professional fireworks displays being offered throughout our region. Celebrate Colorado. Celebrate America. Respect your neighbors. Leave the fireworks to the professionals.

Beginning today, Wednesday, June 10th, 2026, at 9 AM, the Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center will conduct a 24-hour test of a new assistive AI agent on the *NON-EMERGENCY phone line (719-444-7000) until 9 AM on Thursday, June 11, 2026. This AI agent (SARAH) is designed to support call handling and service efficiency on our non-emergency line, to improve the speed at which 911 calls are answered by our emergency call takers. Throughout the testing period, all activity on the non-emergency line will be closely monitored by trained communications department personnel. This test will *NOT* impact 911 services, which will continue to operate as normal.

Operations will take place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The purpose of the training is to work on best practices, communication, and partnership when it comes to working with air resources during an incident, specifically using helicopters with buckets to dip into the reservoir. You will see and hear helicopter activity in the area. Additionally, CSFD crews will have boats and divers in the water as needed. There is no emergency.

#ColoradoSpringsFire is on scene of a hazmat incident on Hancock and Milton E Proby. A semi experienced a diesel fuel leak. Firefighters are working to contain the spill. Approx. 50 gallons have spilled. Eastbound Milton E Proby east of Hancock is down to one lane. Please avoid the area as cleanup takes place.
