The Liberal government’s “Assault-Style Firearms Compensation Program” was supposed to make Canada safer. So what’s the #1 gun being turned in? A pink GSG-16 in .22LR. That’s right—the same rimfire plinker you use to teach your kids gun safety, pop cans in the backyard, and keep gophers out of the garden. Nearly 5,000 Canadians have claimed compensation for this “dangerous weapon.” According to the government’s own data, rimfire rifles like the GSG-16 make up a big chunk of the firearms being confiscated. Meanwhile, politicians keep talking about “military-grade” threats while ignoring who these laws actually target—licensed, law-abiding gun owners. Here’s the punchline: •These .22s are about as threatening as a water balloon at a summer BBQ. •Real criminals? Not interested—they don’t register their guns, and they sure don’t turn them in. •“Public safety” apparently means taking away your daughter’s pink plinker while the rest of us are left scratching our heads. This is what happens when policy is driven by political theatre, not facts. If you think this is as ridiculous as we do, tell your MP. Share this post. Start a conversation. Data source: TheGunBlog Source: House of Commons, Q-1113 Canada deserves better than this. #CSSA #StopTheNonsense #CdnPoli #GunControlFail #CanadianShootingSports

Gun confiscation efforts are falling flat. Despite millions budgeted and lofty goals, only a tiny fraction of banned firearms have been surrendered. The public isn’t buying what the government’s selling — and neither are we.

MP Zimmer is right to raise concerns about the ongoing confusion and real impact of federal firearms policies in the Northwest Territories. Minister Alty claims “hunting rifles aren’t being confiscated,” but the facts don’t match the rhetoric. We continue to see commonly-used hunting rifles—tools for putting food on the table in the North—added to the prohibited list. Even former MPs from the NWT have acknowledged this, and local hunters are feeling the effects. Meanwhile, violent crime in the NWT is at a record high, and the RCMP are short nearly 1 in 4 officers—while $203 million is spent targeting law-abiding firearm owners, not criminals. This is not a public safety strategy. It’s a political agenda. The CSSA stands with responsible hunters, sport shooters, and all Northern Canadians who depend on their firearms for tradition, sustenance, and protection. We call on Ottawa to focus resources on real crime and policing needs—not costly, ineffective confiscation programs. #CSSA #NoConfiscation #SupportHunters #NWT #cdnpoli #FirearmRights

Stakeholders invited to consult on Bill C-21, including a current Liberal Cabinet member, wanted amendments to ban online gun sales and thought gun owners illegally modified their magazines "all the time." And it was the only consultation held. calibremag.ca/c-21-docs-show…

🚨NWT Minister Alty REFUSES to stand up for law-abiding firearm owners in NWT   “Hunting rifles aren’t being confiscated.”   “Return any licences that are currently deemed prohibited.”   Can someone explain what exactly she's talking about? 🤔   Meanwhile, the Crime Severity Index in the NWT is the highest in Canada, RCMP in NWT are short-staffed by 23% and Mark Carney is still blowing $203 million, this year alone, confiscating firearms from hunters and sport shooters.   Watch until the end. 👇

So, Canada has extended the gun ban amnesty until 90 days after the SCC decision... whenever that is. Let's discuss, because there's a lot of possibilities here. Canada Extends The Gun Ban (OIC) Amnesty -- What Does That Mean? youtu.be/eeBuUNp4KE0?si=hB7B… via @YouTube

A recent CityNews story claims that “the vast majority of crime guns traced by the RCMP in 2023 and 2024 came from within Canada.” On the surface, that sounds alarming—and it’s already being used to justify more restrictions on honest Canadian gun owners. But here’s what they aren’t telling you: The RCMP’s tracing data only covers the guns they personally track—mostly from rural areas and mainly long guns (rifles and shotguns). Their own report admits this does NOT include most crime guns in Ontario and Quebec, where the majority of Canada’s handgun crime happens. Let’s talk about the real facts: According to Toronto Police, 88% of the crime guns they seized in 2024 were traced directly to the United States. The New York Times reports that 91% of handguns used in urban Canadian crimes are smuggled in from the US—not from Canadian gun owners. The RCMP numbers are dominated by rural guns, often stolen or involved in non-violent offences. Meanwhile, the guns used in actual shootings and gang crimes in our cities are handguns, smuggled across the border. Don’t let selective stats mislead you. The real issue isn’t Canadian hunters, farmers, or sport shooters—it’s organized crime and cross-border smuggling. Policies that target law-abiding citizens do nothing to stop the real source of urban gun violence. We urge Canadians and policymakers to focus on the facts: Border security, not more restrictions on legal gun owners, is the answer. Let’s stop blaming the people who follow the rules, and start targeting the criminals who don’t. — Canadian Shooting Sports Association #CSSA #GunFacts #StopTheSpin

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 PolySeSouvient's outrage is peak performative activism: demanding the government punish compliant owners harder for owning sporting rifles that have sat idle (and innocent) for over six years. Their "public safety" crusade is like trying to solve drunk driving by banning SUVs from soccer moms while cartel sedans zoom past unchecked. Extending the amnesty because of a legitimate Supreme Court challenge isn't "undermining the rule of law"—it's respecting due process in a country that supposedly values it. The real undermining of public safety? Groups like this one:Pouring energy into confiscating grandpa's semi-auto hunting rifle instead of pushing for better border security, faster bail reform, or targeting repeat offenders. Wasting taxpayer millions on a buyback farce that's been a spectacular flop (low participation, provinces opting out, guns still legally held under amnesty). Ignoring data showing licensed owners are statistically safer than the average citizen, while crime guns are illegal imports. This isn't safety—it's security theater that distracts from real problems. It erodes trust in law-abiding citizens, fuels non-compliance, and signals to actual criminals that Ottawa's too busy virtue-signaling to touch them. PolySeSouvient wants to remember Polytechnique? Remember that the killer used a legally acquired rifle under the laws of the time, and that endless bans on cosmetic features haven't magically fixed gang shootings or smuggling. Focus on enforcement, not harassing hunters and sport shooters who haven't committed a single crime with these guns. The extension is a small win for common sense. Cope harder—your fear-mongering isn't making Canada safer; it's just making governance dumber. #PolyScam

Quebec’s police are phoning the spouses of licensed gun owners—not because of any complaint or threat, but simply because someone in the home legally owns a firearm. This isn’t about targeting criminals. It’s about treating responsible, heavily-vetted Canadians as suspects—despite the existing red flag laws, background checks, and ongoing screening. Our friends at Rebel News ask the right question: If all these laws are already in place to prevent violence, why are police investigating people who haven’t done anything wrong? Where does it end? Will lawful gun ownership always be treated as a crime-in-waiting? We stand for evidence-based policy, not political theatre or blanket suspicion of Canada’s most scrutinized citizens. The Government of Canada has announced an extension to the firearms amnesty period, now set to expire 90 days after the Supreme Court of Canada delivers its decision on the appeal of the 2020 assault-style firearms ban. While this extension provides continued protection for responsible firearms owners and businesses, it also prolongs the uncertainty facing our community. The Canadian Shooting Sports Association urges all members to stay informed and be prepared as the legal process unfolds. We remain committed to defending the rights of lawful firearms owners and will continue to advocate for fair, evidence-based policy. Thank you to everyone who has spoken up and supported our efforts—your voices matter now more than ever. Stay tuned for updates as we monitor the Supreme Court’s proceedings and the future of the Assault-Style Firearms Compensation Program. #CSSA #FirearmsRights #CanadianGunOwners #AmnestyExtension

Only licensed firearms owners can take part in the federal “assault-style firearms” confiscation scheme—yet the government says it can’t (or won’t) provide basic details about who’s participating. Public Safety Canada and the RCMP claim the info—like whether participants have criminal records, are military or RCMP members, public servants, or Indigenous—isn’t all tracked in one place. But let’s be honest: if they did answer, it would raise a lot of uncomfortable questions. Taxpayers are paying billions for a program the government can’t—or won’t—properly account for.

Ontarians Overwhelmingly Support Blocking Federal Gun Confiscation According to a Leger poll commissioned by the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, 56% of Ontarians support legislation to block Ottawa's controversial gun confiscation program — and outside the GTA, support jumps to 62%. Alberta and Saskatchewan have already acted. It's time Ontario does the same. The people have spoken. Will Queen's Park listen? #Ontario #GunRights #CSSA #Shooting #Hunting #ProtectOurRights
