ALT Pink border, black and pink text. Six illustrations of beans on toast, a chess board, a clock, a present, a 'do not disturb' sign and photo frame. Text reads, Christmas day doesn't always go to plan. It's ok if the person living with dementia... Eats beans on toast for dinner. Doesn't take part in games. Sticks to their usual routine. Doesn't want to open presents. Has some alone time. Forgets someone has passed away.
A thread:
My dad was a journalist news reader for nearly 50 years. He also has dementia. I am on a mission to help him capture his memories - we don't want any of his amazing achievements and reflections to slip away...
So here is my question to you: what is a moment or news story from the last 50 years that you would want to know more about? What stories have fascinated you? Which do you wish you understood better? Which do you wish you had seen first hand?
I will gather this and share back with him as part of my homework. We set each other homework each week as part of this project, and mine is about to be late, so please do reply!
Graduations, performances, crazy hair, marathons, and a little staff fun too, our end-of-year activities brought the energy (and the joy)! 🎓️💫

Parents…
If you send an encouraging email to your child’s teacher, please know there is a good chance they will print it out and save it in a file. They will reread it when they are feeling down. Your encouraging words will go a long way.
P.S. It’s Teacher Appreciation Week.
What a proud day!🇸🇦🇬🇧

As weeks at home go…..
absolutely blessed to call this lot my family, my tribe, and the very best of me. Always makes saying goodbye even harder, but how lucky am I to have them all. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Watching the children work with the residents on this week’s episode is just stunning. The honesty and empathy between the two generations is so very special. Inclusion at its best. Well done @BBC
