Platner’s national promoters seem so determined to prove their model for Democratic revival – running lefty, anti-corporate outsiders –is the best path for the party that they are ignoring the many signs that he may not be the right vehicle, or ME the right place, to prove it.

🇵🇪 Peruvian leftist presidential candidate Roberto Sánchez publicly invited his right-wing rival Keiko Fujimori on Thursday to jointly request a vote recount, as the country’s runoff remains a statistical tie nearly a week after polls closed.
“In light of the extremely narrow electoral result, I wish to publicly extend an invitation to Keiko Fujimori to meet at the earliest opportunity and act together in defense of transparency and public trust,” Sánchez wrote, proposing a joint request for “a thorough review and recount of the votes in all those tally sheets that the legislation allows.”
With about 98% of tally sheets processed, fewer than a thousand votes separate the two, and the lead has changed hands repeatedly. Electoral authorities say no winner has been declared and a final result may not come until mid-July. Fujimori has separately said she hopes to speak with Sánchez.

News - With all of Platner's baggage, some Democrats think they can take the majority without Maine. This was unthinkable just a few months ago.
- Sen. Warnock said Maine is no longer a total must-win to flip Senate: “We have many opportunities. And that map has grown wider"
- Sen. Rosen said Dems "absolutely" can win without Platner: Iowa, Texas, Ohio, NC, Alaska: "There is a path for us to take the Senate back ... we're going to make some dents every place that we can"
- Senate Dem: “I can imagine a scenario where you lose Maine” and win the majority. Blumenthal said: “We have a path without Maine. But we’re counting on winning Maine"
