But a CPD report says the “bomb” appears to be a firework.

Does the Mayor believe gunshot victims deserve prompt emergency attention even if nobody calls 911?
If so, why did he disconnect ShotSpotter without having a replacement technology ready to go?
If not, why is he so cruel?
Of course Mayor Johnson believes CPD should respond to reports of shots fired---they have not stopped doing so.
However, we cannot continue to spend taxpayer dollars on technologies which have proven to be ineffective.
Mayor Johnson has worked with CPD to revamp the Detectives Bureau while investing in effective technologies and improved inter-agency coordination.
Since Mayor Johnson took office, CPD's homicide clearance rate has increased to 74%---it's highest point in decades---while there were 47% fewer shooting incidents in 2025 than there were in 2022.

... Regarding ShotSpotter accuracy, your accountants are cutting a $500K check to a man who confirms ShotSpotter accurately detected gunfire to within feet. Unfortunately, CPD misused that data resulting in a lawsuit.
