I am grateful for the tireless city workers restoring services and ensuring public safety after this week's storms, and for the everyday Chicagoans working to support their neighbors. Because that's who we are in @Chicago—we don't leave anyone by the wayside.   Call 3-1-1 for help with flooding, tree emergencies, and other service requests. Visit Chicago.gov/OEMC to fill out the Residential Self-Assessment Survey for storm damage.

This is not a sign of prosperity. It's an indictment of a broken economy and a broken tax code.

If the community knows you're not going to run and hide when things get hard, that you're going to be there for them every step of the way, that's when you can start to build trust. Our Community Violence Intervention workers build that trust every day so they can de-escalate and prevent violence before it occurs. @AcclivusChicago

My administration is proud to lead the charge as we invest in a bold vision to transform the Loop into a 24-hour, live-work-play community. We’ll continue to build more affordable homes while ensuring every Chicagoan has a vibrant, safe, and affordable neighborhood to call home.
Twenty-five office-to-residential conversion projects are underway in downtown Chicago as of June 2026 — more than the last 20 years combined. Valued at $1.8 billion, the 3,900 units are repurposing approximately 4 million square feet of underutilized commercial space.

I'm thankful that His Holiness, @Pontifex Pope Leo XIV, is using his voice to call for peace, human dignity and compassion at a moment when too many leaders are choosing fear and division. The call before us is clear: Protect one another, defend human dignity, prioritize the needs of the most vulnerable, reject fear and division, and work toward justice and peace rooted in our shared responsibility to each other. @VaticanNews chicago.suntimes.com/other-v…

Like many Chicagoans across our city, I was deeply disturbed upon seeing the images which have emerged following this incident. The Chicago Police Department's investigation remains ongoing, and we are committed to ensuring there is a full and thorough review of what occurred. Hate has no place in our city. Every Chicagoan deserves to feel safe, protected, and respected while going about their day or enjoying our public spaces. We will continue working across City government to uphold that standard and ensure Chicago remains a welcoming, inclusive, and safe place for all.

Every single neighborhood that used to have those walkie talkies on poles has seen violence go down after they were removed. I'm not going to sell Chicagoans a false bill of goods just to enrich the interests of corporations. Any technology with a proven track record of driving down violence, I'm willing to explore. Accepting anything less than that would be a derelict of my duty as mayor.

Chicago, please stay alert as severe weather conditions are expected to intensify today and into tomorrow. Forecasts indicate the potential for tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, damaging winds, and flash flooding. Ensure you have access to a safe place to take shelter, stay tuned to weather updates, and check on your neighbors. Please monitor official alerts and be prepared to take shelter if warnings are issued. For live weather updates download the @ChicagoOEMC App at Chicago.gov/oemc
Here are our latest thoughts with the threat for multiple waves of severe storms in our area over the next 48 hours. The main threat today will be damaging winds, while all hazards including tornadoes are a threat tomorrow. #ILwx #INwx
