I used to think I could "accomplish" my way to not being credential checked, or assumed not technical. But that will never happen. So I brush dudes back. Credential checking is exhausting, and can be avoided with one simple question: "How much do you know about [X]?"

Probably shouldn't be a manager if you don't know the difference between mentoring and harassment. 🤷‍♀️

every time you tell a woman in software engineering that she should switch to a PM role because she's so organized, an angel loses her promotion

I don't understand how tech companies pay so much for their employees but then don't give people the space to actually work effectively.

And @thejessleigh is also bringing hot takes 🔥 Don't rely on your ORM, try to do everything in raw SQL first. It stretches your SQL muscles, you get comfortable in your db shell, and it gets you familiar with your data (but PR code that follows team standards) #DevTogether

Like any hiring manager knows there is no one harder to poach than a woman in a ~mostly unabusive environment whose salary is at least ~equal her least competent male peer.

Everyday in 2018 I started the @Wikipedia biography of a woman, person of colour or LGBTQ scientist or engineer. I’m up to 450 pages so far 😁 #womeninSTEM x #HappyNewYear

there is plenty of evidence that for *decades* women have been systematically removed and erased from tech. if you aren't seeing us (in the workforce, in job applications, etc). maybe ask yourself why instead of blaming the women.
