Our major new Brookwood 1914-1918 memorial has been inaugurated by our President, HRH The Princess Royal, marking a significant moment in the continuing evolution of First World War commemoration more than a century after the Armistice.
Located at Brookwood Military Cemetery in Surrey, the largest Commonwealth war cemetery in the United Kingdom, the new memorial commemorates 400 First World War service personnel from the UK and Ireland whose graves were never formally found. ๐ Discover more on our website.

In Brookwood Military Cemetery, a new memorial is taking shape.
The Brookwood 1914โ1918 Memorial marks a new chapter in how we commemorate the missing of the First World War โ those with no known grave and no final resting place.

We are very sorry that the Memorial is closed during this period, but this work is essential to protect it for decades to come. The current works form part of a carefully planned programme to ensure the Memorial continues to honour the nearly 1,800 servicemen and women commemorated here with dignity. We have ensured the names of those on the Memorial remain available through the Registers on site, as we know how much this visit can mean for returning veterans and families.
