I love that he's just in the queue like an ordinary punter but also in classic Gordon dress down holiday - a formal shirt and trousers
When the Former PRIME MINISTER Gordon brown is also in the queue as well hahaha #FIFAWorldCup #HAITI #ScotlandWin #FIFAWorldCup2016

3 years on from my first attempt, I've decided to have another go at making a railway version of the BBC News Countdown. Quite happy with it, I tried to highlight more of the railway industry than I had in the original attempt, also tried to get pacing better with the cuts.

We discuss on this week’s @RestIsPolitics - @donaldtusk observed recently that he couldn’t understand how a Russian backed arson attack on a 🇬🇧 PM’s home and property was treated like “Arsenal 2 Liverpool 1,” just a run or the mill event. Fair play BBC for their investigation but generally the lack of interest and concern underlines systemic anti Labour bias across most of media, and with large elements of the right backing anything thought to be had for Starmer, even if (in some cases especially if) it aligns with Russia China or anyone else who might want to damage Britain. Putin has plenty of useful idiots here
Seems bizarre to me that the press aren’t going bigger on the fact that Russia targeted Keir Starmer’s house and car. We are currently about to start a Leadership contest as Starmer is seen as unpopular, but no-one is discussing the clear Russian interference on social media.

This is a really important point: watch how Reform are switching to overtly racial politics (focusing on crime) as immigration drops sharply. It’s about sowing division, fear and instability in order to persuade voters to give them a chance.

Spot on. When it's not immigration it will be integration. It's all they have to shout about.

The art of the deal.
BREAKING: Iran says the US has agreed to pay $300 billion in reconstruction funds directly to Iran as part of the deal Pakistan announced, alongside the release of $24 billion in frozen funds with $12 billion released before negotiations even start, per Mehr News. This directly contradicts Trump's & Vance's claim that no funds will be transferred to Iran at all. If Trump denies this is true, there never was a deal. If Trump confirms, the US has fully capitulated to Iran's demands.

This deal reopens a body of water that was open before the war and begins a nuclear negotiation far narrower than what Trump was seeking before the war. All at a staggering cost to the entire world while leaving an IRGC-led government that feels strengthened.

You’re going to see an incredible amount of fake outrage about facial scans by people who merrily have their faces scanned 20 times a day to use Apple Pay.
Community note
The facial scans for Apple Pay (Face ID) are processed entirely on-device and do not leave the user's phone, unlike social media age verification which involves uploading photos or videos to third-party providers for analysis. support.apple.com/en-us/102381 ofcom.org.uk/online-safety/

You’re going to see a lot in your X timeline about how the social media ban is unworkable and illiberal - and it will be one the most obvious examples of how social media skews debate. But it will be one of the most popular things the government is doing theguardian.com/uk-news/2026

Totally agree - still a big traditional TV audience for the World Cup. BBC’s obsession with digital first and chasing social media engagement in particular is chronically undermining its claim to be providing universal public service broadcasting.

The BBC are saving so much money by not going to the World Cup itself. They could at least have a mornings MOTD for the games the day before? Having to find the highlights on YouTube is fine for me, but my 83 year old dad is really struggling to find them. Poor from @BBCSport

Media covering Musk trillion without any real regard to broader issues of inequality, tech bro abuses of power, his extreme politics. Glad to have been in a primary school this morning where the views on Musk were a lot wiser and less flattering.
Today, Elon Musk, a trillionaire, pays the same amount into Social Security as someone making $184,500. If we end that absurdity and lift the cap on taxable income, we can make Social Security solvent for 75 years and expand benefits by $2,400. My Social Security bill does that.
