3 years on from my first attempt, I've decided to have another go at making a railway version of the BBC News Countdown. Quite happy with it, I tried to highlight more of the railway industry than I had in the original attempt, also tried to get pacing better with the cuts.

Once again I take no credit for any of the material featured, I took all clips from TOCs, Network Rail, rail documentaries or other railway-related companies. My only contribution was editing it all together. Here is the original post from 2023: x.com/JakeOnRailways/status/…

Put together a BBC News Countdown: Railway Edition (I don't own or intend to take credit for any clips, all sourced from companies / productions. All I did was slap it all together and I think it looks cool)

I think I'm going to have to wait for more hints because I'm only an hour in, I've made no clear progress in solving it, and this is the state I'm in already... 😭

🧮Could the CODEbreaker’s train have something to share with us? ⭐We're giving an incredible prize to five lucky code breakers! If you can find the hidden message in the code on the side of our Alan Turing train (see pics) you could win: 🏅A limited edition Alan Turing coin; one of only 25 specially minted after the train naming! 🚅2 First Class tickets for a return journey on any GWR service. When you've cracked the code, enter it at gwr.com/turing and let us know you've done it in the comments (but ssshhh, don't share the code) Follow us and look out for helpful clues over the next couple of weeks. This competition will self destruct on Alan Turing's birthday, the 23rd June... Good luck #AlanTuring #PrideMonth #Codebreaking

Happy Pride month to all who celebrate it 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ There will be a lot of noise from the right wing bigots as they froth & stress over how people they will never meet live their lives. Ignore it because you are valued, you are heard & you are all great people ❤️

Paddington likely qualifies as one of my favourite London terminus stations, or possibly even of all of them in the country. Shame there’s an IET waiting on most platforms… 😭

Our trip to London was a result of going to see a show on the west end that I absolutely love and have wanted to see forever: The Guy Who Didn’t’ Like Musicals! Fantastic show, funny and memorable. Then we were off to Paddington to head back to Cardiff. 😁

Hello from Paddington! First time on GWR, and first time coming into Paddington by train instead of just passing by. Love this station. Off to see something I’ve been looking forward to for over half a year! 😁

Still in the middle of my A-levels, but having a little break in Cardiff for a few days… and off to somewhere exciting tomorrow! 😁 Didn’t take many pics, but I did see a 150 (the poor passengers, on a sprinter in this heat) so had to get a pic before they’re gone for good.

Considering I’ve spent about 2 years commuting from Hamilton Square in the mid-late afternoon I have never had a fire alarm test at that time before… until now. 🤣 Startled me a little bit, I only had about 30 seconds of warning to prepare for the loud and unexpected noise. 😅

To round the day off, we waited an extra 15 minutes at Chester to see the steam train pass through. Worth the wait. 😁
You could absolutely say it was Veg Disneyland at Llandudno today after we got off the IC125 to start heading home. 😂 A 125, a 37 and a Kettle. Absolutely amazing to have all three in one station at once, didn’t even realise that would be there until this morning. 🤩

Made it to Holyhead! 😁 The IC125 set is in this picture, it’s just hiding. 😂 First time on a 125: Complete! Very comfortable and relaxing (albeit very squeaky).

Something that was quite interesting was the fact that they were able to play the original Intercity-era onboard announcements, here’s one of them. It sounds like Celia Drummond but I’m not certain. 🤔
Just got home from the Gerald of Wales rail tour. Fantastic rail tour with a good selection of rare track movements and station skips, topped off by being on some of the best passenger trains that still operate regularly. Great to finally explore Swansea too! 😁

Good morning from Chester! Quite excited for this one: time for my first Branchline Society rail tour since 2024 - The Gerald of Wales. 😁 Always wanted to do a rail tour on some MK4s.
