Today, the California Transit Association joined Senator @Scott_Wiener, legislative leaders, and housing, labor, and environmental advocates at the State Capitol to emphasize the importance of continued funding for longstanding Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) programs. These investments support transit operations, fare assistance, service improvements, zero-emission bus deployments, and other critical projects that help connect Californians to jobs, education, healthcare, and opportunity. "The state made a promise through its Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. These programs work. They have moved the needle on emissions, on equity, on affordability. Now we need our representatives to step up, follow through, and honor those commitments - not cut them, not defer them. Fund them." – Michael Pimentel, Executive Director, California Transit Association View Michael Pimentel's remarks here: youtube.com/watch?v=Yjy8kSWS…

Billions in cuts can’t be taken lightly. Tomorrow the @AirResources is scheduled to adopt proposed amendments to the Cap-and-Invest Program. That would reduce the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) by $2 billion annually and zero out climate funding for key programs. This means significant cuts to housing, transit, air quality initiatives and good paying jobs – statewide. There is still time to make sure your voice is heard. Attend tomorrow’s CARB meeting in person at the CalEPA Headquarters or via zoom to make sure your opposition is heard: us02web.zoom.us/webinar/regi…

Last year, we fought along side the Governor and this administration to reauthorize Cap-and-Trade to ensure critical funding went to housing, transit and air quality programs statewide. Now, @AirResources has a proposal up for vote this Thursday that would CUT $2 billion in funding from these very same programs. Shouldn’t a program the Governor named Cap-and-Invest, preserve the funding where California needs it most? Join the more than 100 organizations statewide in opposing these proposed regulations, this Thursday at CARB’s board meeting. Here’s how to provide your public comment: ww2.arb.ca.gov/ma052826

We appreciate your participation and partnership, Senator!
It was great to speak with @CalTransit to talk about the need to support our transit systems that our commuters rely on. For every $1 invested in transit, $4.30 is generated in economic activity. I'm continuing to fight to fund safe and reliable transit.

We couldn’t agree more @SenBlakespear - thank you for the thoughtful comments and perspective in yesterday’s discussion.
Great to talk to @CalTransit today about the big challenges we currently face in public transportation and the need to improve service, build ridership and come up with a stable, long-term plan for funding. We have to make this a top priority! The success of public transit is crucial for CA to meet its climate and mobility goals.

Cap-and-Invest proposed amendments reduce GGRF revenues by nearly 50%, almost $2 billion – according to CARB. These cuts would severely impact critical Tier 3 programs, including TIRCP, LCTOP, AHSC, and AB 617, undermining California’s climate, housing, transit, and affordability goals.
