A huge thank you to The Prince of Wales for taking the time to visit with some of our passionate young volunteers today, and for being such a strong advocate for our seas 💙🌊
A pleasure meeting the local community and learning about Ocean Literacy with the Marine Conservation Society on Colwyn Bay. This is a concept that highlights our influence on the ocean and its influence on us. Hugely encouraging to see that positive social change is being powered by collective action. Connecting communities with the ocean, and driving sustainable choices for healthier seas. // Pleser oedd cyfarfod â’r gymuned leol a dysgu am Lythrennedd Morol gyda’r Gymdeithas Cadwraeth Forol yn Bae Colwyn. News that major manufacturers plan to phase out PFAS forever chemicals is good for the ocean. But, we urgently need UK Government to ban PFAS in consumer products, starting with firefighting foam, followed by a universal restriction. More on our work: actmcs.org/PFASletter

We support the @GOVUK position to keep in place the restriction on sandeel fishing in English waters 🐟 Sandeels are an important fish for the health of the North Sea where they are food for many animals, such as puffins. 📸 Kevin Morgans 👉 actmcs.org/OCFsandeels

Do you know how the #ocean is protecting us against #ClimateChange? - It captures & stores around 25% of the CO2 we release - Absorbs 90% of the heat produced by emissions - Prevents & reduces coastal erosion - Helps us generate renewable energy Read more: mcsuk.org/ocean-emergency/cl…

The four UK governments launched updated Part One of UK Marine Strategy. At best we are standing still on ocean protection & at worst going backward. In 2018, only 4 of 15 indicators of Good Environmental Status were met. In 2024 this dropped to just 2. mcsuk.org/news/the-governmen…

Our thoughts first and foremost are with all those affected by the oil tanker and cargo ship collision. The Humber Estuary and The Wash are home to thousands of seabirds, making this potential oil spill and chemical leak a major threat to one of our most important ecosystems.
