The 1600-page Encyclopedia of the California State Legislature is gonna be lit... for a very narrow audience. 😂 Like @rpyers and @oldmanfoster.
Hey @AlexCVassar I know you gave @NatashaforCA her assembly #. Can your favorite Veteran get his #?

I would be happy to write an op ed on how the week of reporter’s having to wait to call a race is worth the rights of all the voters that are protected from their ballots being disqualified due to postal delays, sloppy signatures, or their decision to drop a signed ballot off at their precinct.

Now that we have seen the races for Governor, LA Mayor and all the competitive. Congressional races in CA called, within one week, what are the trolls gonna focus on next? Note: this is faster than AZ in 2024 and 2020, and GA, NV and AK in 2020.

Okay, defenses of my state (though I share Nate’s frustration, esp w/my home county of Alameda): 1. The delayed count is in service of maximizing turnout and access. 2. LA County is bigger than 40 states, but, well, a county. 3. We’ll likely know result by EOW. That isn’t crazy.
The fact that California elections often can't be resolved for weeks is kind of insane and not common in other electoral systems around the world.

I spent years in the news business writing about #TopTwo and its impacts. No matter how you feel about it, I think the most notable point is that it was built for a mythical candidate and voter: the true, down-the-middle, “mix and match” independent. Did they ever really exist?
