Fantastic time judging the UK final of the 23rd Chinese Bridge Chinese Language Competition for Foreign College Students last night. It's been 9 years since I was a contestant, and I am very proud to see how far the competition has come. Well done to all! πŸ‘ #chinesebridge #china

What a start to the week!🀩 Some of our research has only gone and made the front page of a national newspaper...πŸ™ŒπŸ—žοΈ Stay humble @jim_wild @CardiffCam πŸ˜‰
Not everyday your research makes the front-page! Great work by Cameron Patterson @CardiffCam highlighted in the Daily Star. Love the headline! Our research paper with all the details should be published in @theAGU's Space Weather journal later today @LancasterUni @LancUniPhysics

Exciting news to wake up to as I'm preparing for my first day at #AGU23! A little jealous that I hadn't thought of that pun myself

My #TraintoAGU journey was a triumph! The seminars all went well, I made lots of new contacts and friends, I've had some great food, and I've seen amazing views! Small break today before the madness of @theAGU Fall Meeting next week! Bring on #AGU23

I know it took some time to get to San Francisco, but by travelling on the train rather than flying, I have gotten so much more out of this trip than I could have possibly imagined. Hopefully some of you see my ramblings and decide to do it for yourself! Final stop... here. πŸš‰

Morning! πŸŒ„ After a comfy night's sleep across Utah and Nevada, we're about to cross into California through the Sierra Nevada mountains.

After a great couple days at @NOAA SWPC, I'm on the last leg of my #TraintoAGU journey - 36 hours to San Francisco. Truly awestruck by the absolute beauty of Colorado and the Rocky Mountains today, how could you take a flight and miss all this?! πŸ” πŸš‰ Can't wait to be at #AGU23

After a comfy night about the train and a bus ride with some fantastic views, I've made it Boulder, Colorado. The longest leg of my #TraintoAGU journey so far at 18 hours. Looking forward to a couple days of meeting fellow space weather researchers, and a seminar tomorrow! πŸŒ„

Arrived ahead of schedule into Chicago yesterday. πŸš‰ Took in the sights of the city and made a trip to the @FieldMuseum. A great day, spoiled slightly by my Uber Eats delivery not arriving, and the resultant lack of pizza for dinner. Start of the long ride towards Denver today!

Rather than heading into Buffalo, I saw a familiar name on the map just down from the station. The folks of Lancaster, NY, were so friendly. I went to see a local production of A Christmas Story in the Lancaster Opera House (a beautiful old building) and it was great! #Lancaster

On this quiet foggy morning, I wave goodbye to Canada πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦. The next step of my #TraintoAGU journey takes me across the πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ border to Buffalo, where I'll have some time to look around and grab a wing or twelve before my next train at midnight tonight.

It's a snowy start to the day! ❄️ Have a bit of down time in Toronto this evening before my next leg tomorrow, and managed to get a ticket to see Steve Martin and Martin Short's show. Beyond excited! Fingers crossed my trip doesn't become Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

After a smooth train ride from Montreal to Ottawa, yesterday I had the opportunity to present my work at Natural Resources Canada, and meet up with Dr David Boteler, a collaborator throughout my PhD. Had some excellent discussions, and already looking forward to my next visit!

The weather turned out well for a nice look around the city today. Tomorrow it's on to Toronto, then the US.
