Incredible crowd for our Big Union Campaign Day for @AndyBurnhamGM in #Makerfield. Standing together for hope, and for a New Deal for Working People.

Everyone I know that's gone to Makerfield worked incredibly hard in the locals, and frankly also in the G & D by election. It wasn't a lack of hard work that caused the results, we were told repeatedly that it was national issues and the national leadership that was the problem.
Imagine if all those people out in Makerfield happy to canvass a seat we already hold had put themselves out to canvass in the local elections in the exact same area that went to Reform. That would have been a Labour thing to do. But no doubt they weren’t seen hide nor hair of

All this pretence that Keir can stay helps no-one. There needs to be a change.

A busy day today at @NorthWestUNISON 's organising convention #SkillsForStrength. Delighted to have our own, and new General Secretary, Andrea Egan speaking in the opening plenary. She talks about a return to organising and political leadership from the trade union movement.

Brilliant atmosphere as we gear up for the #labourdoorstep in Gorton and Denton today with our big union campaign day to get Labour's Angeliki Stogia elected. We are on the right side of history: Labour strengthening rights to make work fairer, Reform voting again and again to block them. Only Labour offer solidarity, instead of division with Reform. Join us!

Today I walked the 5.8 miles to work. From Withington, through Moss Side & Hulme- the bit Sir 'Jim Rat' has never visited [& never will]. The Claremont pub is still serving, and the area's alright, if a little run down. The final shot is of 'Jim's World', of bribery & money.

Yet another reason to come and join us tomorrow morning in Gorton & Denton! labourunions.org.uk/gorton-d…

Genuinely shocked that the Green candidate for Gorton & Denton isn't a union member. After her dog-whistle comment about Levenshulme businesses in her Mumsnet post and leaving to live in one of the most exclusive and least diverse parts of Greater MCR I shouldn't be surprised.

My take from tonight's hustings in #Levenshulme. The Green candidate isn't a member of union and doesn't get the workers struggle. Matt Goodwin is out of his depth. Heckled at everyturn. Embarrassing

A few photos from a busy Saturday, chairing the @NorthWestUNISON Labour Link Regional Forum, then out campaigning in Gorton with a @unisontheunion team and friends! Excellent response out there, don't believe the nonsense that the other parties are spouting.

Good to speak to @unisontheunion activists this morning about all the fantastic measures in the Employment Rights Act that will make such a positive difference to their members and millions more people- showing the good things a Labour Government can do!

Earlier this week our @prestonlabour Council passed a motion supporting @NorthWestUNISON in their campaign to prevent the closure or privatisation of Lancashire care homes and day care facilities by the Reform led County Council. We are clear whose side we are on and we offer our full support to the workers and families affected.

I agree with Andy's disappointment. Decisions on selections should be made by the CLP, and we should have the widest choice possible in order to get the right candidate for what will be a tough campaign.
I am disappointed by today’s NEC decision and concerned about its potential impact on the important elections ahead of us. To whoever is Labour’s candidate and to our members in Manchester and Tameside: you will have my full support and I will be there whenever you need me. 1/2

Brilliant speech from @AngelaRayner at @LabourNorthWest conference. The Employment Rights Act shows what Labour and trade unions can deliver together. 🌹✊

I know many, many trade unionists will be so disappointed and angry at local members not being given a say over who their candidate should be. This isn’t the way any democratic organisation should be run. Now’s the time to unite our movement not divide it.

Next, @LabourNorthWest Regional Conference rises to its feet to welcome @AngelaRayner! She responds with a barnstorming speech running through the difference that a @UKLabour government makes. And again, a welcome call for @GortonDenton to be allowed to choose the best candidate.

Another busy day at @LabourNorthWest Regional Conference leading the @NorthWestUNISON Labour Link delegation. A great start to the day with a speech from our Deputy Leader @LucyMPowell - we exist to make sure we raise living standards through good jobs, housing and healthcare.

Wearing my other hat, as a member of @GortonDenton, I was delighted with the support from @LucyMPowell, as our neighbouring MP, for our need for the best possible candidate in order to keep Gorton & Denton Labour!

Moving @NorthWestUNISON's motion at @LabourNorthWest Conference today. We need to include everyone in our movement to drive forward the change the country voted for in 2024. Every CLP, every affiliated union and society has their part to play.
