Austin City Council is proposing raising property taxes by close to 20%. But per the below, ATX spending seems way too high. According to @SaveAustinNow ATX Mayor Watson admits ~50% of increase will go to the [Homeless Industrial Complex].

Of the ~$103K raised so far by “Love Austin PAC”, the main PAC supporting the ballot measure, ~$67K appears to come from organizations that would benefit from increased public spending on the Homeless Industrial Complex services.austintexas.gov/edi…

This tragically illustrates the problem with the failure to punish crime in CA and other Dem-led states. This guy kills 6 passengers in his minivan while driving drunk. Based on his rap sheet, in the 1990s CA, he likely never would’ve been able to do this.

Unlike CA, which has imposed a 1% mental health services surtax on personal incomes above $1 million p.a. since 2005. This has obviously done so much to reduce the population of mentally ill living on the streets of CA cities…Oh wait.
Trump and JD have cut OVER $1 TRILLION in mental health funding including: - $1 trillion in Medicaid, the nation’s primary funder of mental health services - $1 billion from school mental health programs - $1.1 billion from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration - $1.81 billion in National Institutes of Health mental health-related grants

Having recently been in CA, I think one of the most visible signs of CA’s government not representing the typical resident is the non-stop proliferation of bike lanes while removing parking and car lanes. Only 1% of LA County residents commute by bike. So why does this continue?

A commonly held belief regarding our day-to-day lives is that icing an injury helps healing. Increasingly, research is showing that cold impedes healing, while heat improves it. I just came across this recent piece adding to that body of work: physoc.onlinelibrary.wiley.c…

I’ve been wondering whether failing spectacularly in fund management leads to online porn addiction (OnlyFans) or whether it’s caused by the same underlying pathologies. Thoughts?
19% Spectacular failure leads

#ValleyFire #CreekFire #ElDoradoFire If fire comes too quick to #evacuate and you're stuck, OR if you're preparing #evacuation bc you're in a warning or are worried, please see linked thread for what to do! Cell service often goes out. Take your pets! 🔥💚x.com/ChaliceGarden/status/1…

Replying to @ChaliceGarden
If you must SIP, put wet towels under doors, close all windows & fireplace damper, & if you have time, get on roof & cover vents. Before fire approaches, turn off gas at meter, fill trash cans/buckets/tub w/water, wet down roof and vegetation (thread...)

#SoCo Health Officer, whose county is prohibited from opening schools in the fall due to infection rates, sees no need for more business closures. When this generation of school kids attain lower HS graduation rates than their parents, remember these decisions @NorthBayNews

Jill Biden deserves a lot of credit for her quick movements to protect her husband from the vegan protesters, but I think the ease with which the protesters were removed confirms that it’s hard to build muscle on a vegan diet. m.youtube.com/watch?v=wl3lRi…
