When looking at the role of women during Apartheid, β€œMaids and Madams” gives an important perspective of black and white women.

Happy Birthday to the late Rosa Parks! The civil rights activist who refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white passenger. Before Rosa Parks, there were other women who refused to give up their seats. #BlackHistoryMonth A THREAD!

Whenever I get so frustrated and angry with this loadshedding sabotage, I always try to remind myself that worse things have happened to better people.

The way white South Africans will tie themselves in all kinds of knots to avoid calling racism exactly what it is. Because we recognise the behaviour in ourselves, our family and our peers. Complicity and complacency is far easier for us. And boy does the truth hurt.

Celebrating dispossession and oppression is unethical, extremely insensitive, and rather foolish if you're part of an apparently vulnerable minority.

The number of people over the age of 65 who are losing their savings to fraudsters pretending to be calling them from their bank’s fraud division - and tricking them into divulging their PINs etc- is shocking. Please warn the older people in your life! πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

Why don't we ask Black people how true this is? Because if you take a moment and GYHOOYA and actually listen to Black responses, it strongly suggests otherwise. We as white people don't get to define how racist this country is to Black people. They live it. Daily!

The greatest tragedy is that Walus is to be released before we have built an egalitarian society worthy of Hani's sacrifice.

Instead of being offended by being held accountable or called out for your words, self-reflect. If you often have to say I am not racist, I’m not sexist, I’m not homophobic … you may not be, BUT it is probably not a great sign.

Remembering attorney Griffiths Mxenge who was brutally murdered by the Vlakplaas death squad in this day in 1981. He is pictured here with his wife, Victoria Mxenge who was also an attorney and who would take over the reigns of their firm only to be assassinated 4 years later.

Griffiths Mxenge was assassinated on this day in 1981. He represented Nohle Mohapi in the inquest into Mapetla Mohapi’s death. About 5 months earlier (in 76) he had dealt with a similar case, the inquest into the death of ANC activist Joseph Mdluli.

IF this happened, it could be true. You may want to look at the power dynamics at play: White man asks black woman, who works for him, if the party he supports is better than another party.
I asked my domestic worker whether the DA had made things better or worse in Mpophomeni (a suburb of uMngeni Municipality where she lives) since the DA took over from the ANC a year ago. He response: "Better, MUCH better".

help, however, the family barely make ends meet and cannot afford to pay for rehab. I need to know, if anyone knows if there are facilities that can assist this family and this young man in Gauteng?

Orania is part of this continent in the same way that an abscess is part of the human body.
Replying to @Phiroane1
