Here is what we found:
1️⃣ Comparing across two accessible human tissues-cheek swab 👄 and blood 🩸 , we found that cumulative family stress in middle childhood was reflected only in blood DNA methylation but not in cheek swab.

2️⃣ Higher levels of cumulative family stress was related to DNA methylation primarily in stress- and immune-related genes (e.g., FKBP5, SLC6A3, TNF).
3️⃣ Negative mother-child relationship quality partially explained the DNA methylation association with cumulative family stress.

Very proud of this new paper describing a novel human immune defect caused by ASXL1 deficiency. We really had to open the genomics tool box to solve this one, including neat tricks like calculating the epigenetic age.
