Any alternatives to Smart Art in Word? I want to go beyond bullets, text boxes, etc. But Smart Art in Word isn't doing for me. Any suggestions?
Please never, ever, ever say "our study is the first to do X." Likely, you are wrong, especially given lags in publication. Also, what's the value in being first? Better to be right, thorough, and careful.

We can’t resign ourselves to fatalism. “People won’t wear masks.” “They won’t get vaccinated.” “There’s no political will.” We must keep using our voices holding our electeds accountable. We have not nearly tried everything in the toolbox yet. We can’t give up.

What a pleasure to conduct a lit review for a project! It’s been a few years. Funded opportunities to read and think are few and far between, love them!

Primal screams of “YES!” from demographers. This and pretty much all pandemic data. #poptwitter @OxfordDemSci

I really don't understand how people keep trying to estimate the severity of omicron without adjusting for age distributions. The relative risk with previous waves varied so enormously by age, a small change in ages or vaccination age distribution can massively affect severity

Something I try to remember everyday. In the day-to-day hustle of survey research in #aapor world, this message of grace can sometimes be easy to forget. Let’s give each other - coworker, boss, client, supplier - love and peace this year.
Remember, as we start 2022 to give yourself and others grace. We have been in a constant state of fear and anxiety for two years straight. This is not normal.

This is a small indication that the system is broken. When I was in graduate school (15 yrs ago) no one I knew ever worked through break. I feel bummed for graduate students now. Take care of yourselves. I know it’s hard.
Wait, Gen Z doesn’t use Word? #FeelingOld

Excited to share our paper in @Nature today! We find that two large surveys significantly overestimated COVID vaccine uptake among US adults relative to a benchmark from the CDC. Work with @shirokuriwaki @MichaelIsakov3 @sejDino @XiaoLiMeng1 @flaxter rdcu.be/cCQ4E 🧵1/

Much of this thread resonates with me. Beyond social purposes, is the intellectual value of conferences worth the time, effort, and money? Especially when presenting to 20 people in a ballroom? Some great points here ⬇️
The pandemic broke a number of things in me. And I think it broke my willingness to organize my life in any way around attending conferences. This may result in professional consequences. That’s ok. I look at the world differently now. I don’t think I’m going back to a Marriott.
