Hoping that through this series of recitals I and the audience can learn more about the existential struggle of being a refugee here in the UK and around the globe. An exciting programme of music and words. Can’t wait to get started.

Immensely proud of the work on Butterfly ⁦@BMusic_Ltd⁩ this week, not only as rep but over the last few months as casting consultant on 9 of the 13 roles including forging a relationship with ⁦@RBCVocal⁩. 1/3

Instead of patronising their potential audience with cliche and assumption, the CBSO management would do well to read Jo Johnson’s article on the data that shows those assumptions might actually be wide of the mark. bachtrack.com/opinion-tomorr…

I disagree that you dress like Cary Grant. In this thread, I will list some of the ways in which your dress differs and why such important details matter. 🧵

Sad to hear of the sudden passing of baritone Nic Folwell. He was our magnificent Antonio @glyndebourne in 2022! RIP dear friend. Hope you’re still tending the carnations.
RIP the baritone Nicholas Folwell and mezzo Claire Powell, two well-loved British singers who have died too young.

I can’t hold @amwilson_opera in any higher esteem. I just LOVE her writing; each paragraph is a gem. Read, share and stand up for classical music! I might get some t-shirts printed…. 👇🏻

I go to the opera specifically so that I don’t have to ‘connect fully with contemporary society’ and I suspect I’m not at all alone in that sentiment!!
Late sharing @nfmusic piece in @thetimes last Friday on @ace_national 115 page report on the state of opera. Is it a post event justification for the ACE funding cuts to so many opera companies? Let me know your thoughts on the report @ISM_music @spconnolly @jjohnstonmezzo

I wonder how she’d feel if her £1000 Mulberry backpack was slashed and spray painted?
Masked Palestinian activist completly DESTROYS historic British painting by slashing it with a knife and spray painting it. The activist from the Palestine Action group ruined the Lord Balfour painting in Trinity College, University of Cambridge using a box cutter Stanley knife . The group claimed the protest was due to the historic 1917 Balfour Declaration which they say “began the ethnic cleansing of Palestine by promising the land away — which the British never had the right to do.”

The Tories don’t want young people to be taught how finances work or any arts subjects that teach critical reading/thinking. Why would they want to create an electorate that knows how they’re being cheated and how it’s being lied about?
Martin Lewis here explaining why children need to be taught financial education in schools. And that’s the Tory Schools minister. Shaking his head.

Brilliant 🧵 which echoes the demise of all the arts in this country, notably the opera industry/classical music. 👇🏻
🧵Today is the last day of filming @BBCDoctors A show that has run for 24 years, employed thousands of people, produced more than 4,500 episodes, will call ‘cut’ for the final time. As a writer on the show for the past 19 years I’m personally impacted along with hundreds 1/
