Can brain stimulation improve sleep? It’s a big question in neuroscience. If you’re interested in our perspective, check out our hot off the press review 😴 @de_lecea link.springer.com/article/10…

We spent hundreds of hours recording neural activity from sleep and arousal-related cell types in the deep brain, all while delivering variant focused ultrasound pulsing schemes to gain insight into one of the most daunting questions in the field: 'What are the parameters?'.

Happy to share our paper, out this week in Cell Reports. We show that a neuron can act as a frequency mixer, and describe a new method for detecting higher-order frequency mixing interactions in brain activity. Always a pleasure to work with @RobertPeach15

Haven’t been very active on this app recently, but I’m happy to share our work that was published in Jan- focused on the biophysics and validation of pulse-width modulated temporal interference (PWM-TI), using patch clamp, wide field calcium imaging and computational modeling
Charlotte E. Luff et al. show that pulse-width modulated temporal interference (TI) is an effective neuronal activator compared with conventional TI, and also model the membrane biophysics behind this fascinating effect brainstimjrnl.com/article/S1…

0% surprised. 100% annoyed that these teaching evaluations are still used for faculty promotion/tenure when we know how clear these biases are.

My toxic trait is: consistently treating myself for walking into lab and saving on bus fare whilst my bike is being fixed, to an ice cream that costs 2x said bus fare

Finally made it! Very excited to be starting a postdoc in the de Lecea lab at @Stanford this week. And what a treat to cycle to lab through the Stanford arboretum and cactus garden 🌳 🌵

This banner has now been taken down, further convincing me it was put up for my benefit… (definitely has nothing to do with the Stanford family day that was on at the weekend)

Anyone know of a book/paper/guide that lists components of intracellular solutions for whole-cell patch recordings and describes the purpose of each part/compares them for recording conditions? A friend has asked me and I feel like it should exist? #ephys
