Two weeks ago, I learned that my proposal for the SONATA BIS @NCN_PL grant was approved for funding. We will focus on "Deciphering RNA self-replication with quantum chemistry and machine learning". It was ranked 5th on 208 proposals in the natural and technical sciences panel1/2

This week I had a great time during the @emergenceoflife meeting on a small island in the lake Chiemsee. Fantastic organization and great interactions with other OoL focused researchers. Beautiful place. We also build a 5 m long DNA model out of magnets and plastic pieces.

7 weeks of waiting for grant reviews after rejection. Hoped for feedback to learn from, yet there's hardly any. Surprisingly, 2 years ago I got higher marks and more feedback for a rushed proposal written in 2 weeks. This time I took two months to write it. 1/n

Our work would not be as efficient and effective if it were not for modern equipment, like @CEMcorporation and @Biotage peptide synthesizers purchased thanks to @NCN_PL grants. Our PhD students had opportunity to work with the devices and they will soon present the results.
