My feed is flowing abundantly with David Hockney and World Cup content. I’m waiting for the algorithm to produce The Cure concert content, 😅 @michaeltemkin
Providence is literally Scotland right now

“we 2 boys together clinging.” It was inspired by Walt Whitman, who has a poem of the exact same title. There’s something deeply touching about him using the little boy voice. Rest easy, David Hockney.

Here is Walt Whitman’s poem. Just lovely and vulnerable.

Today I went to the country country. I technically live in the country, but it’s really where suburbia and the country meet. I love this barn.

This is seven minutes of The Cure at a concert they gave last night in Austria. It is so effing good; thank you Michael.!

@ChildrenNeedUs_ the sound is weird because I think it was recorded on an iPhone from the bass side so the bass is super prominent, but still

That’s it, you can feel the profound love he has for his dogs in painting after painting.
I don't think I can name an artist who painted his dogs with as much profound reverance as David Hockney did.

David, please. David Hockney made the ordinary extraordinary without raising his voice. @michaeltemkin

“…I can find excitement, I admit, in raindrops falling on a puddle…” Thank you, Mr. Hockney.
“I think I’m greedy, but I’m not greedy for money – I think that can be a burden…I can find excitement, I admit, in raindrops falling on a puddle and a lot of people wouldn’t. I intend to have it exciting until the day I fall over.” RIP David Hockney

David Hockney on deafness. He knew how to turn a phrase.
Jun 12
David Hockney: On deafness 'I never liked background music. Music for me has to be in the foreground. I never play music when I paint or draw. I did enjoy going to concerts and the opera because it had a non-electronic sound. I used to play music in my car, the last one having eight speakers, but if passengers wanted to talk, I turned it off. The drive from London to Bridlington takes about four hours and we would play a Georg Solti recording of “Tannhäuser” — marvellous for going 80 miles an hour on the motorway. I can recommend it. The one good thing about my deafness is it has made me perceive space quite differently. A blind man gets around with his hearing and so why shouldn’t a deaf person perceive space differently. Of course you might only detect this if you are an artist. And since I am deeply interested in perception and depiction, of course I’ve noticed this...'
