My alternative model and motto, is: "Ask not: Why is my patient non-compliant? INSTEAD, ask: What did I not hear, not offer, not ask?" cs

The next keynote at #Quality2024 is being live streamed & open to all. It starts at 4.15pm this afternoon: "The healthcare sector is responsible for almost 5% of global greenhouse gas emissions, and if it was a country it would be the 5th largest polluter in the world. But how do we reduce waste, improve efficiency and decrease carbon footprint while still prioritising safety? In this keynote session, we will hear from Hackney-based climate activist Daze Aghaji on why it’s so important to consider our connection to the planet world, and Anthony Costello, Professor of Global Health and Sustainable Development, on what this means for health and care." Watch it here (you can watch the recording too): internationalforum.bmj.com/l…

Great work here 🎯 Let’s talk about “What Matters to You?” Care in long term care facilities and with people who have dementia. So important and so rarely done.
Honored to listen today to the amazing work being done at Minoru Long-Term Care residence @VCHhealthcare with Care Conferences on the @WmtyWorld call ❤️ Resident-Centered Care! youtube.com/watch?v=v2W8oq1S…

This. Such a small thing can have such a BIG impact on the patient (and physician) experience 💯 #humanexperience
I have found myself doing this more often than not and there is no doubt in my mind that it enhances the experience for both of us.

This should be a strategic initiative embedded from the top down as the impact is that big. When we ask "what matters to you", "what is important" of patients, families, caregivers AND staff, we change the conversation ➡️ impacts outcomes experience of care #WMTY @WmtyWorld

Thank you @simmons_leighmd @ksepucha @SamiraDaswani So much and of so much value in this understated podcast. Shared medical/health decision-making from both sides of the desk. And there is a part 2 to still come @WmtyWorld @TheIHI
It was a pleasure to speak with @SamiraDaswani on #SDM in primary care decisions. @ksepucha

PSA: Survivors of medical trauma are frequently invited to speak at conferences. The stories they tell are harrowing and educational for anybody who cares for patients, which is why they are popular participants in plenary sessions and panel discussions. 1/3

“I may be biased, but the most powerful, productive, and strategic conversations took place away from the main stages and exhibit hall floor in the Patient Advocate Lounge”, said @GraceCordovano Thank you Grace. Powerful thread, Applies to All. 😔💙Your Mom. @WmtyWorld
🧵 For the first time, I attended a conference as a surviving carepartner. I was caught off-guard w/emotions walking into McCormick Place for #ASCO23, where 6 weeks earlier, I ran out of the same hall at @HIMSS to catch a ✈️ after my mother-in-law died from metastatic cancer.
