We were honored to welcome Gianmarco Botti, an Italian journalist and scholar of American politics, to campus for a week of research and conversation.
During his visit, Dr. Botti joined our Novak Fellows for their March symposium, where the group explored thoughtful and effective approaches to addressing poverty. He offered valuable insights from outside the American perspective and engaged with our students while experiencing their seminar-style discussions firsthand.

St. Thomas helps us see why. Work is not only a necessity, nor merely a burden to be endured, but a form of service — one that binds us to others and orders our talents toward the common good.
On this feast day, may we be renewed in the call to take our work seriously: to pursue excellence with humility, to serve others through what we create, and to let our labor form us in wisdom and charity.

On the first day of ENT/MGT 118, students dove straight into Mercatum (or "marketplace") - a highly immersive market simulation built around a modified version of the card game Pit. The room began to buzz with excitement as students experienced supply, demand, risk, and strategy in real time. No slides required!
And yes, the stakes were real: winning teams bid on prizes ranging from a lunch for four with Prof. Teti and Prof. Widmer, to copies of "The Art of Principled Entrepreneurship", to a giant bag of Sour Patch Kids.
Spring semester is officially underway!

For months I have been telling you that the “dad’s study” is underway—it really is!
We have conducted fifteen pilot interviews within a three-hour drive of the DMV region. We have cleaned up transcripts, looked for common threads, and refined our questions. We ready to hit the road and visit with dads all around the country.
Please help us cast the widest net by sharing this call for subjects here on X and in your local networks and other socials, especially if you have contacts in one of our ten regions (below). Men beyond those regions may apply, and will be considered as research needs indicate.
