I didn't learn The Lord's Prayer in Sunday School. I LEARNED THE LORD'S PRAYER IN PUBLIC SCHOOL! We said it every morning, before the Pledge of Allegiance! We said a blessing before lunch, and read from Scripture. The 10 Commandments hung on the wall. And nobody got shot

In the past five years, I’ve seen a sharp rise in students struggling with foundational school skills: -Legible handwriting -Bringing basic supplies -Following verbal directions -Spelling & punctuation -Reading & writing stamina Ignoring these deficits in the name of "rigor" only exacerbates existing learning gaps.

UPDATE: Oklahoma City man stepped up to pay Don Vaught’s property tax on his Owasso home for the rest of his life. Jason Thomas, a stranger from Oklahoma City and the CEO of Thomas Blonde, saw Vaught's story and felt compelled to act. Thomas paid off the remainder of Vaught's initial $14,000 GoFundMe goal. He then wanted to cover his taxes on his property. "Then going forward for the rest of his life, we're going to pay his property taxes so this is never a problem again," Thomas said Vaught had a message for Thomas. "I had 60 years with my wife, and I hope he has 60 years with his wife," Vaught said. Vaught said if his wife would be incredibly thankful. The Oklahoma standard hard at work 🇺🇸

I didn’t expect this but Americans are ridiculously good at small talk. In the UK if a stranger starts chatting to you, you immediately assume they want something or want to rob you. Here people are just… nice?

USA. A breakfast counter. The waitress recommended the biscuits and gravy, and when the plate arrived, I thought something had gone wrong in the kitchen. I say this with shame. The dish looked like a construction site after rain. Pale mounds. Gray ladle-fall. Speckles I could not identify. In my land, the eye eats first. A meal is arranged like a garden. This meal was arranged like weather. "Is it… finished?" I asked, carefully. "Honey, that's what it looks like." The man beside me was already eating his. He did not look up. "Just try it." I am a man who has charged hillsides at dawn. I raised the fork. I tried it. I must now formally apologize to the biscuits, the gravy, the waitress, the kitchen, and the entire breakfast tradition of the American South. It was magnificent. Warm. Peppered. The biscuit drank the gravy the way a field drinks rain — THAT is why it is shaped like that, you fool — and every mound I had insulted was a soft fold of comfort that my homeland, in eight hundred years, never once thought to invent. "Well?" the waitress asked. "I judged it," I confessed. "By its appearance. I am ashamed." "Everybody does, hon." Everybody does. A national dish that forgives you for doubting it. It expects the doubt. It waits for you on the other side of it. Do not judge the gravy by its face. Judge yourself, for hesitating. I order it every Saturday now. I no longer see the construction site. I see only the garden. It was a garden the whole time. The eye must be trained.

What if we taught our students that it’s a good thing to produce wealth instead of villainizing the wealthy?

This week, Burt Jones called @RickJacksonGA supporters “paid actors” and was caught faking (at least) 3 endorsements. Georgians noticed.

I spent 10 years in progressive higher education. The faculty (and most of the students) LOVED to drone on about how uncouth and vulgar Americans were, specifically heartland conservatives. They did it constantly. Most of them had been to Europe at least once, students for study abroad, faculty for research trips. One professor told me that Ireland was “my favorite country in the whole world.” They loved to talk about how cultured Europeans were, how stupid and out-of-touch flyover Americans were, and made every endeavor to set themselves apart. Well, now the Europeans are here. In the heartland. With the closed-minded-bigoted-Baptists. And they love it. It’s real, it’s beautiful, it’s America. 🇺🇸
The vibes are insane. Driving through the great state of Louisiana on our way to New Orleans. It’s crazy how diverse this country is, every day the scenery looks different.

If you want to know what’s going on in the UK, Alex is a good follow. Highly recommend.
This is what happens when dangerous politicians and far/left commentators tell their followers that it’s “gut wrenching” that Palestine activist thugs, who crushed an innocent woman’s spine with a sledgehammer, are “dissidents”, not violent criminals.

I need to apologise to America because I judged you on stereotypes. This country is genuinely beautiful. The people are lovely, the roads are insane and everything feels bigger. I get the hype now.
