I had a conversation today about the difference between "kindness" & "niceness" in leadership so I decided to post about it. The article & graphic explain why, as leaders, we should choose kindness over niceness. Kindness is about caring enough to push people toward greatness, even when it’s uncomfortable. It’s a harder path but better in the long run: learningandleadershipconsult…. By @emb928 Graphic: @thejustinmecham via @dangrimes1980

The Nuka system of care, run by the Southcentral Foundation in Alaska, has been described as "the best primary care system in the world". It has sustained its outstanding outcomes for the past 25 years. In this analysis, @BenAllenGP explains that it wasn't just a change in the process of care but a whole different way of thinking about care: medium.com/@BenAllenGP/what-…. How it started: Me & my twin bro Mo are forced to leave our parents behind in Lebanon due to the terrible situation over there & arrive in the UK at the age of 17. We both start working full-time in a supermarket stacking shelves. People laugh in our faces when we say it is our dream to become doctors. How it’s going… I’m Dr Ahmed Hankir, Consultant Psychiatrist in Canada and Honorary Visiting Professor at School of Medicine Cardiff University. Dr @HankirMohammed has today been offered a job as Assistant Professor of Biochemistry in Trinity College Dublin, Ireland (please say a huge congratulations to Dr Mo!!) With hard work, self-belief, God’s grace, determination & opportunity you can realise your dreams. Our journeys are in my recently published book, ‘Breakthrough. A Story of Hope, Resilience and Mental Health Recovery’ amazon.co.uk/Breakthrough-Re…

We keep being told that "feedback is a gift". But who really welcomes unsolicited negative feedback? Brain research shows it often triggers a “fight or flight” response, flooding our brains with stress hormones & limiting our ability to absorb information. @dastillman says it's much more effective to use a "Rose, Thorn, Bud" approach to giving feedback: 1) Rose: something that’s positive, working well. 2) Thorn: gaps, clear negative issues. 3) Bud: areas of potential growth that are present but not fully realised. bit.ly/4aVEmFx.
