The problem here is there's a huge appetite to ride bikes in London and it's not matched with adequate bike parking space or infrastructure.   Councils don't want to risk offending a minority of drivers by removing parking spaces for bike bays. Offend away pls councillors

Green Lanes should be a key part of Haringey’s cycling infrastructure but in its current state it doesn’t fit the bill. Haringey Cycling Campaign is calling for this to change. haringeycyclists.org/news/ca…

Replying to @tfwrail
@tfwrail struggling to reach the Irish Ferries 14.10 departure from Holyhead due to @AvantiWestCoast cancellations, can you hold the 10.21 Crewe to Chester departure to connect with the 10.24 arrival from London Euston?

Car clubs let people share a car without owning one. Like @TrydaNiCymru 👇 which helps people save money and travel in a greener way. That’s why we have announced £1M funding to help create more rural car clubs. gov.wales/car-club-network-w… #ClimateActionWales

Modal shift to ‘anything but the car’ is an essential part of GB strategy but it conflicts with ‘growth’. Need to find ways to roll back the trend towards bigger cars, pavement parking, housing developments with car use baked in. Will @Transport4North prioritise decarbonisation?
We'll explore how we can make the North more inclusive through more accessible, affordable, and greener #transport. Our expert panel includes: ✅ @olivercoppard, @SouthYorksMCA@bricycle, @activetraveleng@NKane2, @Steer_Group ✅ Tom Jarvis, Transport for the North

Finally big thanks to @ClarkKentish and team at Steer for producing the report. We hope it will help provoke discussion amongst local authorities wanting to tackle this issue, as well as leading to green jobs in the UK given many of the solutions made here! More of this please 🙏

We're also very grateful to @sianberry for today raising awareness of our @cities_clean report with @MayorofLondon and really encouraged to see their exchange and that the Mayor gets the issue and seemingly its a priority to fix. We'll be following up 😅...7/X

On-street hangars aren't the only solution either! Our report shines a spotlight on @lambeth_council, where a lot of inspiring action is being led by @isla_wrathmell to bring down costs and improve convenience for residents including converting car garages on estates 🔥... 6/X

We also see clear gap between funding and ambition - despite a doubling of provision by boroughs in the coming years - our research shows there will be more than 35,000 Londoners waiting for a secure cycle space in 2026. Boroughs need more support from @TfL @MayorofLondon... 5/X

In 17 boroughs its cheaper to get annual parking permit for a car than to rent a single space in a cycle hangar 🤯. Only @EnfieldCouncil & @lambeth_council its cheaper for a family of 4 to park bikes compared to an EV. Others clearly incentivising car ownership > cycling... 4/X

There's clearly growing demand for secure cycle parking (up 17%) far exceeding supply, with rollout varying lot depending on where people live. Only 7 boroughs meet *current* demand by 2026 and waiting lists will remain more than double the planned rollout in many boroughs... 3/X

Our report shows 50 bikes stolen every day in London and according to @TfL, more than half of Londoners see a lack of cycle parking as a key deterrent to cycling. So we've teamed up with @StolenRide to gather stories of theft & make some noise...2/X NEWS: standard.co.uk/news/crime/bi…
