Just compiling some twitter threads I've put together recently. x.com/TTTMediaXR/status/1813…

This is a thread looking at sentences handed down by Judge Christopher Hehir. 🧵

Bill Wilson tried psychiatry. Religion. Willpower. Nothing worked. Then a stranger shared his story in a hotel room - and something shifted. Alcoholics Anonymous - 90 years old today - now helps millions, not through therapy or drugs, but through radical honesty in community.

30 years ago, Lord John Browne stood at Stanford University and became the first CEO of a major oil company to publicly accept the science of climate change. Other oil bosses flew in to ask if he'd "lost the plot." In fact he'd found it. 🧵

Deep inner suffering inevitably arises when the human person is reduced to performance, consumption, or a statistical datum. Many young people today live under the yoke of expectations to perform, immersed in an exasperated competitiveness that generates anxiety, fear of not measuring up, and disorientation.

The truth is, over the last 30 years, the environmental movement has catastrophically failed. Despite all the effort, global carbon emissions have risen by over 60% since 1990, even after decades of scientific warnings about catastrophic climate breakdown. I’m not blaming the individuals who have given their lives to this cause, but dedication alone is not enough. Success demands rigorous analysis and a willingness to disrupt the entire system

Memo to USA/Canada/Norway: you can actually leave oil in the ground. This is Yasuní National Park in the Amazon. Home to one of the largest untapped oil reserves in the Americas. In 2023, the people of Ecuador voted to leave the oil in the ground and the park exactly as it is.

In 2022 we were warned by @Lauratobin1 that UK summer temperatures could hit 40°C by 2042. It happened two months later.

The River Mease was dying - polluted, degraded, forgotten. 13 years later and 17km has been restored. Rare fish back. Wetland birds back. 100 farmers brought on board. It just won the UK River Prize. Proof that patient, community-led work can bring a river back from the dead.

The Greens' membership has exploded in size in a very short space of time. But they desperately need to prioritise sorting out their vetting. The other thing is that we need to deal with conspiracist thinking on the left. It's not socialism and leads to very dark places.

Does anyone else feel like we're in this weird calm before the storm? Last few years of climate have been relatively stable but next few may well see rapid acceleration. We know the shit is going to hit the fan due to Strait of Hormuz being closed. Why aren't we doing something?

Statements that have now come to light from a handful of @TheGreenParty candidates are totally unacceptable & require immediate action. There’s no place for anti-semitism or any hate speech in the party. This is a society-wide problem & needs to be rooted out wherever it’s found

In Japan, thousands of villages run on “satoyama” principles. Humans live and cultivate land alongside forests and mountains, not separate from them. Humans can boost biodiversity with careful farming. The line between nature and society isn’t fixed.

Uruguay isn't even in the top 50 richest countries but they're putting the rest of the world to shame because almost 100% of their electricity now comes from renewables. And they've done it in just 15 years. If Uruguay can do it, any country can.

There are simply no good counter arguments to a £15 minimum wage. Only wealthy, economically illiterate charlatans want you to believe otherwise. And they are terrified. ft.com/content/431a161b-6e8e…

Reform, Labour and the Tories all take money from oil & gas giants and private healthcare interests. That tells you who they’re really working for. The Green Party doesn’t take that money. We answer to you - and to the future of our planet. Vote Green on Thursday. 💚

In my opinion this should be the main message of the Green Party right now @ZackPolanski
This is an open goal for Keir Starmer.

One idea unites every society that has lasted for millennia. Live in harmony with nature as its custodians, not its masters. From Aboriginal Aussies to the Haudenosaunee, Tao to Pachamama, the wisdom is universal. You are part of nature and must care for it - or face collapse.
