Memo to USA/Canada/Norway: you can actually leave oil in the ground.
This is Yasuní National Park in the Amazon. Home to one of the largest untapped oil reserves in the Americas.
In 2023, the people of Ecuador voted to leave the oil in the ground and the park exactly as it is.

The River Mease was dying - polluted, degraded, forgotten.
13 years later and 17km has been restored. Rare fish back. Wetland birds back. 100 farmers brought on board.
It just won the UK River Prize.
Proof that patient, community-led work can bring a river back from the dead.

Does anyone else feel like we're in this weird calm before the storm? Last few years of climate have been relatively stable but next few may well see rapid acceleration. We know the shit is going to hit the fan due to Strait of Hormuz being closed. Why aren't we doing something?
