As an AD, your talent as an athlete tells me two things: you were blessed with good genetics, and you worked hard to maximize them. What tells me even more about your character is what you do with that talent. Do you use it to elevate others, encourage teammates, and make the people around you better? Teams naturally follow their most talented players. The reality, however, is that the most talented athletes are not always the best leaders. True leadership is not about what you can do for yourself. It is about how many people you can bring with you. The athletes who leave the greatest legacy are not always remembered for their stats, but for the impact they had on their teammates and program.

I mowed my IF on Monday and Friday. I mowed my OF on Wednesday. I sprayed weed-kill on Mon. and Wed. I drug my IF skin on Mon. and Fri. I watered my IF grass every evening. For a high school baseball coach with a natural playing surface, to do it right, he must work.

Travel ball is bleeding families dry. Tournaments fees. Hotels. Food. Equipment. And now they charge parents insane amounts just to watch their own kid play. What’s next — pay-per-flush bathrooms? Enough is enough‼️

If Knox county would let us host tournaments, I promise I would drag between games and maybe even water the infield. Amazing the number of places that don't do that after the entry fee the tournament requires.

As a baseball scout, there are two concerning hitting characteristics with HS & College hitters that stand out more today than ever before. 1) No Plan At The Plate Successful hitters don’t just hope to get a hit—they know what pitch they’re hunting, they exercise zone awareness, they know what part of the field they’re trying to use, they know how to work counts, and how they’re going to attack pitch to pitch. They have a plan, they don’t just “wing it.” If you fail to plan—then plan to fail. 2) Lack Of Competing In The Box Every pitch is a battle. Fighting off tough pitches. Refusing to get beat. Making the pitcher earn every out. Competing in the box isn’t about the “result”—a hitter can go 0-4, but have four quality at bats. Competing in the box is about your approach, focus, and effort every single pitch. Yes, swing operation and talent matters, however a “plan” and a “competitive” mindset in the box separate good hitters from the rest. Never forget . . Success is never owned. It is only rented, and the rent is due everyday!

Parents for the love of god please stay out of your son or daughters dugout. Players, stop going to visit mommy and daddy during the game. You might as well go out on the field with an emotional support stuffed animal at this point it’s getting a little nuts. Get their water or whatever they need before the game you don’t need to visit each other 5 times a game and then wonder why they can’t do hard things on their own.
