An interim Charlotte mayor name to watch: Carrie Cook. The city clerk’s list doesn’t show her name yet. But multiple people I spoke to believe she will be a formidable applicant.
Applications close June 9 at 5 pm.
BREAKING: WBT is the first to learn & report that in a letter to Monroe City Council, Mayor Robert Burns & Councilman David Dotson have asked council for an ethics investigation “involving Council Member Gary Anderson and supposedly a minor arising from a recent reported incident in the City of Charlotte.” The letter also says CMPD’s Crimes Against Children Unit is investigating. This discussion was placed on the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting.
Good news. The clerk sent a message to Charlotte City Council today saying the city will now proactively post who applies to be Charlotte Mayor.

Update- Just heard from the city of Charlotte. They will release the names of mayoral applicants through the public records request process. But the city will not proactively release the names of applicants without the blessing of Charlotte City Council.
So for now, I am planning on just submitting records requests every day for people who applied for the position
