It was described as the “safest and most robust assisted dying legislation” by **supporters** of the Bill. Not a single Royal Medical College OR Professional Body in this country will say the Bill is safe. Let alone it being the “safest”.
🚨 BREAKING: The Assisted Dying Bill will be reintroduced to Parliament next week by Labour MP Lauren Edwards

So a deeply dangerous bill that intends to remove safeguards once it’s through the door is being forced AGAIN and refuses to ensure safeguarding. Anyone who gives a damn about people being able to make a decision on AD without coercion being a factor, will oppose this bill. Unfortunately, many will still back this bill because it’s the cheaper solution. They would rather let you, your loved ones suffer to the point of asking for AD rather than fund proper palliative care. That’s already coercion. It’s also cheaper to people being on benefits. In a country that let a mass disabling virus let rip - this is a cost saving bill. But we knew this was the agenda since the committee stage when we first heard them vote away safeguards for non terminal disabilities. No one needs AD for autism, Down’s syndrome, anorexia or diabetes. But that’s what they voted on. Any safeguards in place to get this bill through the door is smoke and mirrors to allow state sanctioned death via the back door. It must fail. This bill is completely unsafe for all. Even those they’re hiding this appalling bill behind. They’re using these terminally ill people to get this through. They do not care what happens with them at all.
🚨Breaking - Lauren Edwards will bring the assisted dying bill back. The Labour MP says the process has been “frustrated” and she will use her spot on the private members bill ballot to return the bill to the Commons

I appreciate I'm not the most likely Parliamentarian to persuade a Labour MP of anything, but: - the Bill can hardly be described as the "safest in the world" when even its Lords sponsor thought it needed 70-odd amendments last time round; - no Royal Medical College or indeed any professional body will say the Bill is safe. It is to be hoped that the Labour leadership will think again before giving further parliamentary time to a Bill which has proved so divisive in both the Commons and the Lords. It's clear that the country is simply not ready for this assisted suicide Bill.

I cannot believe we are back here once again. With no humility about the concerns raised previously, let alone attempts to address these in the HoL as it assiduously went about its work as the revising chamber. We have enough to get on with right now without further division.

One oddity, serious constraint actually, is that MPs in principle in favour would have to ignore legitimate technical concerns about things like eligibility in order for the bill at 3rd reading to be substantially the same.
This is a mistake. It’s a flawed Bill. The whips ought not to be pushing this. If the government wants this in legislation it needs to be in a manifesto so that the electorate, which is just as divided on the issue, as Parliament have a say. It will of course be blocked again.

It will fail again. And it will take up lots of parliamentary time.
Assisted Dying will return to the commons - but with its supporters making zero attempt to listen to the growing body of expert clinical opinion who have told them the bill is unsafe. I thought we progressives were meant to be led by the evidence and care for the vulnerable?

Bad news: Last thing we need is rerun of this deeply divisive issue that is genuinely dangerous, threatening so many of our vulnerable communities when government has so many pressing priorities.

This is bad news for the vulnerable people whose lives will be put at risk if this bill were to pass. (But it’s also bad news for the Labour Party - pretty unbelievable some MPs want to bring it back).
NEW: The Assisted Dying Bill is returning to Parliament this week. Labour MP Lauren Edwards will reintroduce it on Wednesday after coming 2nd in the private members’ ballot. “The process has been frustrated by a small minority”, she argues.

Very sad to see my colleague Lauren Edwards MP bringing the deeply flawed and unsafe Assisted Dying Bill back as a PMB. If it was safe and brilliant why did the Lords sponsor of the bill bring 77 amendments in the Lords? It cannot just be brought back as it is and forced through.

I hear that a backbench MP will be reintroducing the assisted suicide bill. I cannot think of a more tone-deaf thing to do at a time of national malaise, particularly as the bill divides the Labour Party, and has been rejected by every medical royal college that took a view.

Looks like a Labour MP is announcing they are bringing back the deeply flawed, unsafe assisted dying bill. Forget social media ban, forget about by-election, forget about a fresh start. One MP and multi million ££ lobbyists saying ignore dangers for the vulnerable

We have debated this deeply divisive and flawed Bill for over a year and nothing has changed nothing. This Bill will hand sweeping, unchecked powers over life and death and our NHS to future governments..whoever they are. Insane stuff.

Mastectomy scars are now promoted to girls as something cool to aspire to. A 'look', a statement, a choice. So insulting to women who have no choice. So dangerous for vulnerable teen girls to sell them major surgery as just a fashionable change of image.
Lush UK. Promoted by Chelmsford City Council.

Wondering how our Keepers became elephant guardians? It’s not anything one would find on a resume. While many of our Keepers have shambas or raise livestock back home, none have worked professionally with elephants before. Over the years, we've found it best to include the orphans in our recruitment process: they are quick to identify the ‘X factor’ that makes an excellent Keeper, which is why we ultimately put recruitment in their capable hands. New candidates join the orphan herd on a trial basis, and if they are embraced by the elephants, they are hired as a full-time Keeper. Keeper Jackson passed the ‘interview’ years ago, and has been a vital part of our team since. Our logic is that each person, with their diverse background, opens a whole new dimension to the role. This strategy has the added bonus of fostering conservation awareness across the country. Keepers become vital ambassadors within their own communities. Over the years, many orphans have been saved by ordinary people who developed empathy for elephants through a Keeper who is a father, uncle, friend, or neighbour.

1/ Zack and pals are peddling the attack line “no jury convicted them of terrorism” to try to undermine the sentences in this case. Let me explain why this is fundamentally wrong. In a criminal trial the jury is the judge of the facts and the judge is the judge of the law.
I'd never condone violence against a police officer - this is utterly dishonest. The jury weren't judging them on a terrorism offence. This is an awful sleight of hand. The creeping encroachment of terror laws onto protest & removal of our juries should worry all of us.
